I am new to the area I'm in and I've been single for a while and I have a question. What are your opinions about meeting sites? I'm not talking about ones for one night stands (sorry, trying to find a clean term). For instance, what about Christian Mingle? Is this getting ahead of God or not relying on Him to put someone in our lives? I'm asking because I've prayed for a Christian woman in my life to maybe start a relationship with but, is going to some site searching for someone okay?

Wouldn't say anything is wrong with it, per se, but I personally prefer not to look, or not look too hard.
I'd rather let attraction form through friendship. This removes a lot of pressure and fakeness that dating can lead to. And let's you not rush into things and you get to form a romantic relationship on something deeper than initial attraction. Getting to know each other first, rather than entering into a relationship and still not knowing a lot about each other.
And the best way to do that is to let things happen more naturally.

But more people prefer to not want to wait to do this. And that's their choice.
Though from what I've heard over the years Christian dating sites are the worst place to meet people. A lot of fakes, scammers, catfish and people looking for one night stands. Finding sincere Christians seems to actually be quite difficult on them. Whereas on secular dating sites if someone claims to be a Christian on them they're more likely to be a genuine Christian.
Just what I've heard over the years. Can't say if that's true or not, but as much as I've heard it I'm inclined to believe it.

In my view if you're hunting that hard for a potential spouse you're more likely to make a bad decision.

Can I honestly say this, this last line here is a perspective I guess I've neglected. I guess that I forget that it was the times that I didn't know God and made decisions on my own that I've made some really bad decisions. See, this is why so far I'm enjoying this website and the accountability that I mentioned in one of my initial posts. I guess I'm too close to my own situation and I need some external godly counsel. Thank you. Believe me, it's not going unnoticed.

no, not getting ahead on God. i joined christian mingles & my wife found me on there. definitely, the best source would be Jesus to find a mate. but i'll tell you right now, waiting for a mate may be the #1 issue to be patient with. blessings to you.

Yes - at the very least, it ranks near the top of the list - "loneliness waits for no man" - it is "ever-present" - the long-term continual not-having-a-close-companion can weigh heavily against the soul - especially if you feel you have a lot of love and affection to give to someone but have no one to give it to (my life story). It can be temporarily overridden - but tends to "return with a vengeance" at the next available opportunity - at any time when it would have been good to have someone there with you to share the present moment - happy moment, sad moment, whatever...
