Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this one, I’m not sure where would be best but as the title suggests I’m looking for a book recommendation.

I’m looking at discovering more about the spiritual realm. We all know it’s there, Jesus spoke of angels and indeed demons so we know for sure they’re around us but I’d like to dig a little deeper, what is going on in the spiritual world directly around us ? What’s gone on in the past ? What’s happening in the spiritual realm when we go through spiritual attack ? Why do we go through spiritual attack etc ?

It doesn’t worry me, I know that speaking the very name of Jesus is tremendously powerful and defeats the enemy every time, it’s just that a few experiences I’ve had over the last two or three years have made me a little more inquisitive I guess.

If you’ve read anything along those lines and it’s Biblically solid and you think I should read it please let me know, it would be very much appreciated.

The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis (a collection of short stories that were first read on the radio by Lewis in the 1940's, which he later assembled into the book that we have today). It's a book about demons, and interestingly, it's written from their POV (so "the Enemy" in The Screwtape Letters is referring to God, for instance).

Most of it is an ongoing correspondence between an elder demon, Uncle Screwtape, and his nephew and protégé, Wormwood, with Uncle Screwtape giving his nephew advice about how to better handle his "patients" (us) and thereby, how to be a better tempter .. or else!

It's fictional, of course, but you will come to better understand what demons do, how they think, and why. You will also come to recognize their attacks for what they are far more quickly.

You can buy the book, of course (see the link above), or you can read it for free online at sites like this one:

God bless you!!

~Deuteronomy (David)
p.s. - be sure to read the preface(s) as Lewis' introductory comments about the book will help you understand it and make it a more enjoyable read. BTW, it is a page-turner :)

If you are looking for easy to read books with sound scriptural messages, I suggest you read Max Lacado's books. They are good reading for new Christians and old Christians alike. Most of them include a study guide and excellent bibliographies.

I do have that in my collection. I’ve read bits of it and my wife has read it a few times now. I’ll get round to it soon.

it's a marvelous book. I've read it many times. The audiobook with John Cleese is as good as a movie. C S Lewis The Screwtape Letters Audio-book - YouTube
I really wish they would make it into a movie so more people could see it, but no, they would never do Instead, they have a remake of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.🤨
