Hi...I've been a Christian since 2006. Recently I moved out of my daughter's home. I'm not almost 60 and living by myself for the first time in my life. It was exciting at first, but now I'm very lonely. Any advice on living alone in your empty nest years?

Howdy and welcome to the Forum.

Loneliness and boredom are commonly mistaken for each other. Maybe you are bored.

Try finding something to do, something that you get enthusiastic about. See if that solves the problem.

I'm not an empty nester but I am almost 50 and recently found myself living alone. Fortunately for me I don't mind being alone too much. I tended to self isolate to begin with.
But I still get moments of loneliness and boredom. I am unable to get out and make friends, nor would I be good at it if I were able to 😂
If you're able to get out more then that can be a way to help. Especially anyplace that may have people with similar interests or just an opportunity to meet people.
Using the forums to chat and meet new people is another way.
Personally I like to keep myself distracted with my own interests.
Another thing is try to step outside your own interests and comfort zone and look for other things. Sometimes you come across something that you end up liking things that you thought you wouldn't.
Right off the top those are my suggestions. I'm sure others can provide more ideas as well.

Thanks to all of you who wrote. It's nice to hear from people who seem to care. I really don't mind being alone. I tend to be a loner as well. Especially after work...because I'm a special ed teacher and at the end of the day...I'm beat. Weekends tend to be much easier on me. I enjoy working...because it distracts me. But, like I said, I don't really get out much during the week because I'm so tired at the end of the day. On weekends, I'm catching up with housework and shopping for groceries, etc. It was all a comfortable life until I had to do it completely alone. I probably need a pet, lol. My daughter is giving me her cat (who loves me dearly). Just to have another warm body in the place would be nice. This is my first time in a sort of chat room since chatrooms began back in the 90s. It is nice to talk to people.

Aaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!! What is it with daughters and cats??? Hehee, I jest. I love my cat. My daughter insisted
I get one after my last one passed away, and she bought Luna for me. She is so undemanding. My cat. My
daughter is undemanding also, which is great. But when she announced I that I had lived alone long enough
and was getting a cat, I thought it best not to argue with her LOL. I've had Luna for over ten years now...

PS~ my daughter has two cats and two dogs, and works at an animal hospital :D I love her, too
I am only working three days a week now, and six hour days, but am often exhausted after work, also.
