This storm is currently a cat5 with 180 mph winds. Haven't seen one like this since Katrina.

It's gonna hit somewhere around Tampa bay. If it hits south of the bay there will be less of a storm surge because of wind direction and locaton of the bay itself. If it hits north of the bay flooding with be terrible again because of wind direction and location of the bay. The north east part of hurricanes is the most powerful.

Tampa is gonna take a hit so please pray that it hits south of the bay. This is gonna be ugly.

Praying for my brother and his family; they live in Bradenton, Florida. I am not hearing from them. :(

Hopefully they are just caught in the mass exodus on one of the interstates. The emergency lanes on one side have been opened for thru traffic but it's still moving at a crawl. Praying for them

I know someone who lives in Stuart Florida (around 40 miles north of West Palm Beach) that sounds confident this hurricane will not bring much danger to his area at all. He is expecting some rain for around 4 days or so with winds at around 40 mph but overall, no biggie, according to him. I would not be so overconfident! A monster hurricane like that can be unpredictable. :cautious:

Some people there are used to it like people in California are used to earthquakes and people in New York City are used to sub freezing temperatures.

I am not accustomed to any of those things so I will stay here in Tennessee.

I am not accustomed to any of those things either which is why I will stay in Missouri. My wife and I have visited Memphis and Nashville in Tennessee. We enjoyed Graceland and Beale Street in Memphis, and Broadway Street and the Trolley Tour that took us all over Nashville. There is a lot of history there. The BBQ in Memphis is pretty good (but it's hard to beat Kansas City BBQ). Nashville not so much, but they have a good Nashville hot chicken sandwich. :) Have you ever been to Missouri?

Depends on your perspective.

I have been there multiple times with my pastor to pick up watermelons. He sold them to raise money for sheaves for Christ offering.

But we only went just right across the river. I don't know if you would count it as actually being in Missouri. We never went far enough to see a single town in Missouri. All the watermelon farmers were down at the southern border, where the water is.

Last night the highest wind that I could see near the eye was 80mph. Some news media called it cat 5 then, but I could see that was incorrect.
It changes so make sure you have the wind speed and not other measurements. It might be set at temperature at my state. You can scroll down and access all data as it transmits. It is user friendly so don't let the features intimidate you.

This storm is forecasted to enter the Atlantic still as a hurricane - winds at 75mph+ so I hope your friend is right.

Recent reports show an eye movement to the south somewhat. Looks like Tampa Bay will not get the hit from the eye which is good for them but not so much for those south of the Bay, Landfall for later tonight is forecast as a high end cat 3.

This is the first storm that has unsettled my peace in 33 years

Local weather man reports 45 tornadoes - most in the Fort Pierce area which is roughly 100 miles or so north of Miami.
A few further south.
