"Games"? Who me?

Okay, let's consider, that in scriptures, there are various titles and definitions that are applied to the holy Spirit. As these are carefully studied, it becomes evident that ALL of them describe characteristics that stem from God and Christ and do not necessitate an additional personality. Many are also reflected in the life of the Church.

Let's look at some examples.
“The Spirit of God” (Matt. 3:16)
“The Spirit of Christ” (1 Pet. 1:11)
“The Spirit of Holiness” (Rom. 1:4)
“The Spirit of Truth” (John 14:17)
“The Spirit of a Sound Mind” (2 Tim. 1:7)
“The Holy Spirit of Promise” (Eph. 1:13)
“The Spirit of Meekness” (Gal. 6:1)
“The Spirit of Wisdom” (Eph. 1:17)
“The Spirit of Counsel” (Isa. 11:2)
“The Spirit of Adoption” (Rom. 8:15)
“The Spirit of Understanding” (Isa. 11:2)
“The Spirit of Glory” (1 Pet. 4:14)
“The Spirit of Grace” (Heb. 10:29)
“The Spirit of Prophecy” (Rev. 19:10)

Even the most avid Trinitarian would find it necessary to define “Spirit” in most usages as an influence or power. The personhood of the Trinity just doesn't fit into these descriptions. So Trinitarians must use two definitions when referring to “Spirit” in the Bible: one meaning the Third Person of the Trinity and the other as an influence or power. Unless the meaning is continually defined in each verse, the reader is left uncertain as to what is meant. There is another side to this matter which is very revealing. There is also an “unholy spirit” that is referred to frequently in the Scriptures. This spirit is described in opposite terms to that of the holy Spirit.

Note the following:
“The Spirit of Fear” (2 Tim. 1:7)
“The Spirit of Bondage” (Rom. 8:15)
“The Spirit of Divination” (Acts 16:16)
“The Spirit of Antichrist” (1 John 4:3)
“The Spirit of the World” (1 Cor. 2:12)
“The Spirit of Slumber” (Rom. 11:8)
“The Spirit of Error” (1 John 4:6)

Would you or anyone propose to add personhood to these spirits or to suppose that these various designations, unitedly considered, prove there is another evil being apart from Satan, the adversary of God? Not likely, because it's commonly recognized that these terms, which generally signify the wrong spirit, all have their chief exemplification in Satan. A separate personality is not required, nor are a host of personal spirits needed to justify the listings.

Therefore, I submit that for consistency a similar conclusion should be drawn in regard to the various references to the holy Spirit as well.

Only in the context of JW would they refer to the Holy Spirit as a force. Yet they deny Jesus is God, and for them to deny the Holy Spirit is no surprise.


In your observation of "unholy," the "S" in spirit is always associated with GOD. "s" is what is used to describe another spirit that does not have the exact attributes of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit knows God's mind, Knows God's will, and knows the created spirit can't do that.

You reduce the Spirit of God and liken it to the opposite of GOD? Foolishness. The devil is no opposite of GOD or opposition. He does not even have the abilities of GOD. The devil is not standing before GOD as an opposite. HE bows when he comes before the Presence of the Living GOD. He will call Jesus LORD! And will BOW doing it.


No other spirit: spirit fear, slumber, or whatever else you use out of context is to profane the Holy Spirit, meaning to make it common as other spirits. They are not. And it would be best to be very careful about referring to the Holy Spirit or liking HIM to a force or another evil spirit.

What's to explain. Jesus said to go and baptize in the name of the Father, Son and holy Spirit. It is debated whether this verse is spurious, because none of the baptisms in scripture followed that formula, thus they were all baptized in the name of Jesus. No as to your "proof" verse at Matthew 3:16, 17:

Where do YOU see the Trinity here. If believers are to be baptized in the name of a triune God, what triune God was Jesus baptized under? You can't count him in the mix, as he's the one getting baptized. At best you have two, the Spirit of God and the voice out of heaven.
Well, obviously you would see all three as I do, if you were not denying that Jesus is the Son of God and the Second Person of the Godhead.

Your logic, dear sir, is heavily flawed. When three persons are present, the one counting, being one of the three, does not exclude himself when asked to report who all is present but includes himself in the count. So why would Jesus, in this account, not be included?

"And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway from the water: and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him; and lo, a voice out of the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
Additionally, what mere human, has ever had this occur after being baptized. NO ONE! Thus, this proves that Jesus Christ was no mere human being. Also, what human being has ever had this said about him?​
Mat 3:14 But John would have hindered him, saying, I have need to be baptized of you, and you come to me?

A couple times a month, JW’s come to visit the industrial estate where I work. They’re always welcoming and we always have a healthy debate, but everytime I ask the question why they don’t believe Jesus is God they stop talking and direct me to their website.
I can’t understand how someone who reads the same scriptures that we do, does not believe that Jesus is Lord? Or are they reading different scripture? As they’re trying to convert me, I offer counterpoints to make them think about what they believe. I’m not bashing JW’s. I just can’t fathom how you can read the same book, but come to a different conclusion of who/what God is. Thoughts?
The Jehovah's Witnesses read their pamphlet more than they do the bible.
They also believe that the earth will become heaven. they don't believe in Hell. They don't think Christ Jesus is God's son but an archangel, Michael. The JW also has its own Bible, "the New World Translation."

Years ago, My mom had a friend who was a JW. He had a terrible disease that was very rare, and around this time, we were praying for him, and the verse Revelation 22:18-19 came to my mother's mind. After that, my mother would say a word of warning to them whenever she met a JW.

LOL Jesus was Baptized to fulfill all righteousness as HE told John in Matthew. I believe Matthew chapter 3:13-17

Baptized" in the name of " is an English term that translates as "By the Authority given you do this. "

I come in the name of the Lord, saying that what I am doing and where I am going are given to me by God, who is seen in the Father, in the Son, and in the Holy Spirit.

Well I have my Greek New Testament 4th Edition right here. Looking at the textual criticism and alternate readings, I dont see anything reflected here on Matthew 28:19.

There are no brackets or indications in this verse that there is any questions about whether or not the text is regarded as certain or that there are any variants. In fact, every single translation I have ever seen (except the New World Translation) translates the verse this way.
“In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit”

Well NWT has it without caps…but I dont know why you are arguing the text is “spurious” if you dont have an issue with how it is translated.
I'm not a JW, and don't care much for the NWT.

To the Newbies out there reading this,

There was an incorrect claim that "the early church did not believe in the Trinity of God," at least that's close to the quote.

I will not repeat what Dr Stringer explained better than I in the video below. I recommend everyone listen to it as he established that the Word of God was available to the churches (pl) and contained I John 5:7 as is correctly included in our English KJ Bible.

7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Jesus is the Word.

There are records of plenty of churches that Believed the doctrine of the Trinity as we see in I John 5:7 among many other references OT and NT.
The Jehovah's false Witnesses happen to reject that fundamental Christian doctrine as some other false religions that reject the description of God as He gives us throughout from Genesis and ends with Revelation.

I don't believe that there's a catholic assembly called "the church ". There were plenty of churches with plenty of problems and even heresy that was addressed by the Apostles and by Christ directly. They were autonomous assemblies in various locations.

Last night I read Isaiah 40 and found another Messianic scripture about John the Baptist's ministry concerning God on earth.

Isaiah 40:3 quoted in Luke 3:4
3The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

The Holy Spirit is in verse 13
13Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?


Concerning the Word of God in the same chapter...8The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
A few days ago, Baptist historian and preacher, Phil Stringer, taught on the historical records concerning the strong Trinitarian Scripture that Wescott , Hort and many since have lied about, 1 John 5:7 KJB
Those unsaved men rejected the doctrine of the Trinity as they did the inspiration/ preservation of Scriptures. One was into the occult and necromancy. They are the basis for commentators today. When you read false marginal statements such as, "not in the oldest and most reliable texts", you can thank the commentator for believing two very wicked men who would never be allowed to speak in a decent church if they were alive today.

There are plenty of Bible reasons why we should believe that Jesus is 100% God while at the same time 100% sinless man while He walked the Earth creating all the food that thousands of families ate while following Him. Only God could do that. He healed the lame, blind, deaf, dumb, sick, and even raised the dead after they started decomposing. Ie.Lazurus.
He fulfilled the OT prophesies that said that He was God, Creator of the universe. I could go on, but that's plenty of food for thought for now.
Study it and review so you will remember when one of the cults knocks on your door, talks to you at school or after work.

Those who call themselves Jehovah's Witnesses do not know God the Father became they do not know the Son. BTW, the Spirit of God is also Old Testament teaching.

The true Witnesses of Jehovah are those who are true servants of the Son of God in the Old Testament and New. Jesus is in the OT many times. Many don't believe that. That's because they chose to believe false witnesses.

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit.
Believe the truth and sell it not.

Don't be a sell out. Read, study, obey and share the truth in love.
That's my encouragement for someone tonight or tomorrow.

One more point.
There are those who claimed that the Trinity of God is not mentioned in the Old Testament, but a Christian invention and heresy.
To disprove that false belief I could point them to plenty of references showing that the Father is God, the Spirit is God and the Son is God.
Those I pointed this out to usually have no answer or they demand an OT verse like I John 5:7 KJV only.
I just found one more passage in personal devotions tonight from Isaiah 48

12Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last. 13Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.....
16Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me. 17Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

I wasn't looking for this proof verse, but the Lord pointed it out to me. Those who do not want to see Who God is will not be convinced regardless of this irrefutable Scriptural evidence.
Those who have eyes to see will indeed see Him for Who He is.
Revelation is progressive and doctrine develops.

I believe in the Bible as the inspired Word of God, but nowhere is the idea of a triune God taught, only manmade interpretations.
You really need to get up to speed on this buddy.
The triunity of God is just .....everywhere. Its indisputable.
And just because we cannot fully comprehend Their fullness hardly makes it less true.
The triune God is infinite BTW. And we, as finite creatures, will NEVER fully comprehend Them.

  1. So that is thirteen places where He is not called "the Holy Ghost" or "the Holy Spirit".
But there are FIFTY PLACES where He is called "the Holy Ghost" (a divine Person). And there are SEVEN PLACES where He is called "the Holy Spirit" (no different).

But you ignored all those Scriptures to avoid the truth. The Greek word pneuma means "spirit", so all fifty seven verses could have said "Holy Spirit". For some reason known only to them the KJB translators followed Martin Luther's "Heilige Geist" and translated it as "Holy Ghost". He is definitely shown to be God in all these Scriptures, and only a willfully blind person will ignore that.
Many of his references do not even refer to the Holy Spirit. Common secular example, spirit of America.
