when coffee becomes sin.

No I don't think it's sinful to drink coffee, until it becomes to much of a thing in your life, or the habit starts causing health issues or cost too much or interferes with our walk. it's an easy thing to overlook since it isn't talked about directly in the bible, but like anything else It can become it's own problem. I'm afraid to say it's time for me to cut way back because not only is it costing me money at $2 buck a cup, but my digestive system doesn't like it. So for me it's become a sin.

Fair enough. I switched from coffee to tea overnight. I did not know at the time, but my wife prayed for me as she thought I was drinking way too much. I also know someone who is 94 who still drinks coffee.

My uncle Fred goes through a big can of Folgers regular every three to four days. But he's also a hard working man who has a lot of responsibilities. I only drink one cup, only on days when I haven't had enough sleep, and since I'm not big on coffee that's enough to get me through until the next time I can go to sleep. But I don't have many responsibilities at all. Indeed I have taken pains to avoid most of the responsibilities other people complain about a lot.

I COULD look at uncle Fred and say coffee is a sin for him. But I don't take on the responsibilities he has.

I also don't have the short, tough body he has. That kind of coffee intake would wreck me. He doesn't have a problem with it.

Is coffee a sin? It can be. Our pastor started having trouble with terrible headaches for a while. He prayed and prayed about it, until God finally told him to stop slamming energy drinks and start getting some real sleep at night. That wasn't exactly sin, but it was something he was doing wrong that he needed to stop doing. If it is something you value more highly than God, something God said not to do that you do anyway or something you know is destroying you but you keep doing it, that is sin. If our pastor had kept slamming energy drinks instead of getting a good night's sleep, that would have been a sin to him.

Coffee can be a sin. But nobody can really tell anybody else "That's a sin and you need to stop it." Everyone has to decide for himself, between him and God, whether it is a sin for him.

Me too. Then two more cups mid-morning. And maybe a cup at lunchtime.

When it sets off irritable bowel syndrome it's a problem and interference.

Here in the states, most work places provide styrofoam which is harmless unless you pour hot liquids in it and drink them. 😉

It even tastes better when drinking from glazed, stainless or glass, doesn't it?

My regular coffee cup was too light and looses heat too fast. I liked it, but thought about a heavier one. I didn't want one from China though and thats all that's in the local stores around here.
I asked the Lord and He gave me a hand thrown Deneen Pottery cup in the perfect style and favorite color. Brand new at a thrift shop. I just finished some Chamomile tea in it.
He is so kind. He led me straight to it..

It's a forest green like the one in the upper left. Sometimes I prefer OD or a lighter shade of forest. This makes my day when I think of how the Lord provided it. It's the style of the orange one that says Footed Mug.

Yours sounds really nice. I found a lid that fits, I set on top to keep it hot longer. It just wasn't working on my lightweight one.

Not for Mormons. It is a sin for them. And no one should be paying $2 or $3 or $4 for a cup. Making your own coffee would cost only a few pennies, even if you purchased very high quality beans and ground them. And it only takes a few minutes. I have stopped drinking coffee for health reasons, but there is nothing wrong with a couple of good quality cups a day.

It's a dependency thing. Some people get dependent on it, like they can't function without it.

Some churches preach that this makes coffee a god to you, which is a sin. Or they preach that your dependency on coffee makes you under the power of coffee, a reference to I Corinthians 6:12. Or they call it a weight, referring to Hebrews 12:1

my mug is a white styrofoam cup. when one starts to get discolored, it is tossed out for a fresh one!!!
