You may have wasted
An opportunity great.
Any morsel colored green
Is welcomed on an Irish plate.
So if in the future
Opportunities appear,
Color spoiled food green
If a leprechaun is near.
My family's scotch-irish
With celtic luck to match
But old scrambled eggs
Are NOT deemed a good catch
You're welcome to have them.
Come fill up your plate
(Well... You can have them next time
This time you're too late)
Who would have ever guessed that a humble thread about coffee...

Would have turned into an amazing poetry slam! :D:LOL::geek: (With big winners on both sides!)

Thank you, @Cameron143 and @Lynx -- that was a truly enjoyable read!

Coffee is always such a hot-button subject that I love seeing what "brews up" when the topic is even mentioned!

One thing I've learned in this thread for sure -- NEVER get between @NightTwister and his 12 Different Ways to Make Coffee.

Someone's life obviously depends on it -- and if you're the one to try to stop him -- that life might be yours.

On the remote possibility that I run out of coffee, I'll turn on the coffee maker, put my mug under the drip, and ask God to fill my mug with coffee. When the mug is full, I'll turn on the TV, kick back in my recliner, and drink whatever God has filled my cup with. I'm sure it will taste like coffee.

I only drink coffee once in awhile. My go-to hot drink is herbal tea, followed by green tea, but that happens usually in the evenings. I do like iced coffee a lot but I get it from outside.
Do you have any herbal teas you'd recommend?

I'd like to cut back on coffee and drink more tea, but many kinds I've tried wind up tasting like grass clippings to me.

being a southerner, a glass of sweet tea is my go-to if there is no coffee...
What brands/flavors of tea do you recommend that will make the tastiest sweet tea? :)

If Jesus made water into the tastiest and very best wine served at a wedding banquet, I'm sure whatever you get from your coffee maker will be the best-tasting cuppa joe you've ever had. :)

Well... I mean... Technically that's what a lot of teas are.

My Mom used to mow the lawn with one of those Toro mowers with the rugged fabric bag:

As a kid, I watched her empty that bag of grass clippings countless times.

Sometimes when I try to drink certain teas, it tastes as if my Mom emptied that mower bag right into my cup.

Well... I mean... Technically that's what a lot of teas are.
Technically tea is made from the leaves of a particular bush. All the rest of what are called tea are really just herbal infusions.

A plant called Camellia sinensis, an evergreen shrub native to East Asia, produces the leaves and buds that
are commonly known as tea – the most popular beverage consumed in the world, second only to water.

Herbal infusions, also known as herbal teas or tisanes, are beverages made by steeping dried or fresh herbs,
spices, flowers, fruits, or other plant materials in hot water. Unlike traditional teas, herbal infusions do
not contain tea leaves from the Camellia Sinensis plant and are therefore caffeine-free.

All Right Everyone,

Sound the Alarm!!!

The Just Desserts Thread over in Singles has started a side conversation about... instant coffee.
And let's just say, it's not exactly winning rave reviews.

What about you?

Picture a very early morning on a very typical day. You stumble to the kitchen, half awake, looking a bit like this:

View attachment 265350

You finally make your way to the cupboard, pull out your trusty stash, only to find... *GASP!!*

You are OUT of your most TRIED AND TRUE BREW, and you have an ENTIRE day you have to get through!

View attachment 265349

What do YOU do?!? :eek:o_O:cry:

(I'm going to include a poll, but please feel free to post your own answers! The poll only allows for a certain number of given answers, so there will be plenty of other things to be said -- and we want to hear it all! :D)

You can also choose as many answers in the poll as you like -- but just for fun, I'm going to make it so that we can see who voted for each choice!

Even if you are (*gasp!*) out of coffee, I hope you'll join us for a "jolting" good time! :D
Enjoying a cigarette on the go as well.

I just removed the bag and went on mowing the grass. Much easier lol.

For the record, I'm actually older than Lynx -- by a few years.
I'm sure I've got you both beat.... in fact, tomorrow I add one more to my total....
My wife organized a surprise party for me on Saturday.... I was most definitely surprised. I had no clue. She's done that to me twice now...

Maybe it really is a good thing I'm single. I would appreciate the intent, but I would sorely hate the disruption in how I thought the day was going to go.

On the other hand... What kind of cake was it?

Actually, there were two cakes... technically, I guess three.... one big flat cake with great white icing, but it was half chocolate cake and half vanilla.... first one of those I'd seen.... the other was a wonderful white-choc raspberry bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
..... and ice cream. They decided to go lo-cal this time....:LOL:

All of this was after chopped brisket sliders, chips, and cold drinks....

This party was great, even though a surprise. There were 35 people there.... friends from our old church, and from our new church, and our oldest daughter and my younger sister both drove over from Lubbock, and my half-brother and sister drove over from Mississippi/Alabama....

I was overwhelmed and felt un-deserving of that kind of display of friendship/love.... it was a good day.
