Hey Everyone,

Like most people, I really enjoy zoos, but it was on a childhood class trip to Chicago's Shedd Aquarium that I truly fell in love! I was amazed that God had made so many creatures that can live in completely different environments than us land lubbers:

How about you?

Why don't we all head out on a an adventure-filled day to an amazing aquarium -- snorkels, flippers, and diving gear are optional. :)

* 1. Do you have any favorite aquariums you've been to, would like to go to, or would love to visit again? Do you have any memories of past trips to share?

* 2. What would you look forward to seeing the most? What are your favorite animals and exhibits?

You'll catch me spending extra time anywhere there are dolphins, whales, sharks, otters, and penguins!! I especially love the expressions of the Beluga whales:

1720020321002.jpeg

Hammerhead sharks are fascinating!

And I could never pass by the penguins or otters without stopping to watch them play. (Apparently this penguin couldn't resist stopping and watching, too.)

1720020528392.jpeg

1720020572601.jpeg

* 3. What animals would you dread or avoid seeing? Some here might know, but... I am a bit... hesitant (and have been known to elicit strong feelings -- and sounds!) when faced with frogs: (after all, they were part of the 10 Plagues for a reason!!! *shiver*) Just look at this terrifying face!

1720021677508.jpeg

* 4. What other things would you like to see or do at the aquarium?

* Grab a coffee and burger while watching schools of fish swim by?

* And, I know they're horribly overpriced, but you know I just have to stop by the gift shop!!! (I especially need to check out the t-shirts -- and stuffed renditions of the local residents.) :) What would YOU be most interested in?

What?! Every purchase I made would be helping the wildlife! (Or so I would try to tell myself.)

How about you? What would you enjoy most (or least) if we went to an aquarium?

Come along with us and let's expand our underwater adventures beyond just our own bathtub or shower. :geek:

Bathtub and shower is about all I want. I'm not big on sea creatures. I was not designed to breathe in their atmosphere, and I'd just get in their way.

I guess the only aquatic wildlife Lynx will ever see will be his rubber duckie:

But Lynx, what if your duck gets lonely? Maybe he'd like to meet a few new friends. :)

Rubber duckie?

It was delicious, thanks. A bit chewy, but exquisite flavor.

Such beautiful creatures!! ❤️

A friend and I have been talking for awhile about going on a cruise in the future.

Maybe I can talk her into going on one that specializes in watching dolphins and whales. :D

I double tapped but it didn't do anything. I was going to ask them to save me one for supper. And now I'm all hungry...

OOOHHH, I used to love to watch those Jacques Cousteau specials as a kid!

I think what fascinates me about the ocean is that the land is so familiar to us humans. We'd like to think we know a lot about it, as well as the creatures that breathe air.

The sea really is like an alien world in many ways. We have so many limitations as to where we can go, how far we can explore, and what we know about the creatures that live there.

I've lived in a few different places, and it always amazed me how God has designed such differing plants, animals, even rocks that are specifically designed for incredibly varying environments.

That thought of beings that can survive things like the incredible pressure, darkness, or heat (such as underwater volcanoes, etc.) just astonishes me.

I can't wait to hear God teach us in heaven about all sorts of creatures we've never met or even thought of!

and chew on that Lynx ;)
LOL!!!

Triple bonus points for this -- it made me laugh out loud.

@Lynx -- you have been officially called out (and by someone other than me!)

I agree seoulsearch. Have you noticed how small the creatures in the deep (very deep) are? except for giant squid and a few others

and ugly. very ugly. 1720033063387.jpeg thankfully small and they just scare you to death instead of eating you

how about bio-luminescence ?

1720033199854.jpeg

liking the bonus points? do you guys give out prizes?

OH man!!

When I was a little, little kid, I remember going on the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride at Disney World -- I loved seeing all the "creatures" under the water, but I was very, very nervous. I kept asking my Dad if we really were at the bottom of the ocean!

I loved seeing the "mermaids":

But I was absolutely terrified that the "sea monster" was going to get us -- no matter how goofy he looked:

Bio- luminescence looks so cool -- like the aurora borealis of the ocean. ❤️

I didn't watch it at the time, but I liked to idea of the show Sea Quest and what it meant for exploring a whole 'nother world, and without setting foot into space.

liking the bonus points? do you guys give out prizes?
And yes, here in Singles, we love handing outextra points and various rewards (usually in the form of digital baked goods) for:

1. Witty banter and encouragement.

2. Insightful feedback and personal stories.

3. Picking on Lynx. (Whoops! I mean, er...)

Actually, that wasn't a typo. Even @Oncefallen picks on Lynx!!

I hope to have more Singles Forum Adventure threads in the future, so please stop by anytime (all members are welcome -- married friends can bring their spouses!)

In the meantime, I am happy to award all your awesome posts and pictures with our prize for the day! :D Bon appetit.

does he count? 😂...jk🤣

Next Thread Idea:

"Come Along as The Singles Forum -- Re-Enacts an Episode of Baywatch!"

If that's the lifeguard, I might have to be the poor, unlucky "volunteer" who needs to be "rescued."

(In all seriousness. Good-looking people of Hollywood caliber intimidate the heck out of me -- a side-effect of being a lifelong nerd -- and I would definitely be the one running down the beach -- away from any such people!) :geek::D:LOL:
