Hi Karlon!
I can definitely tell a difference when I'm around different kinds of colors.
My parents love earth tones, autumn, and Southwestern-type colors -- so varying shades of brown, mustard yellow, and burnt orange. I like to joke that there's the book called 50 Shades of Grey (no, I've never read it or seen the movie -- I have absolutely interest in it,) but that my parents' home decorating theme is always 50 Shades of Beige.
I learned early on that in contrast, I like bright primary colors -- ocean blue, cherry red, kelly green, royal purple -- and my parents were kind enough to let me decorate my room to my own needs. I'm a natural introvert, and I can feel myself withdrawing even more when I'm around muted, warm-toned colors for extended periods of time.
I feel very blessed that my parents have always been understanding that I actually need some bright color in my life to help me feel better. Several years ago they gave me an artificial palm tree (because it looks tropical,) and I decorated it with multiple strings of brightly colored, blinking Christmas lights. It's a staple for me, and I sometimes sit in the dark with my tree lit up while I pray.
People have also given me ornaments to put on my tree, so it's a year-round keepsake of God's love and provision for my quirky need for color.
I believe color is one of God's blessings and one of the things I look forward to in heaven is discovering colors there that I'm sure our earthly life here is too limited to see.
Great thread and thank you for posting this!
