The KJV was a product of its time. It was greatly used by God. But it has many shortcomings, chiefly, it was not written in the vernacular of today’s modern reader.
I’m a big fan of John H. Walton.
In his teaching materials, he notes that THE SCRIPTURES WERE NOT WRITTEN TO US (they were written to people of the past), therefore it is important for us to understand how those ancient people received the message that was given to them. Generally, the Scriptures can’t mean to us, here and now, what it didn’t mean to them, there and then.
