Waffles Vs. Pancakes, The Sequel: Denny's, or IHOP?

Since we're having an ongoing discussion about waffles and pancakes, this seems like the logical next question:

B. IHOP

C. Name your favorite breakfast joint, and why you love it!

I know Denny's and IHOP -- International House of Pancakes -- might be a strictly USA thing, so I'm eager to hear about famous/popular places specific to one's own area or country!

Definitely IHOP. Denny's doesn't do crepes.

Fun Fact about (A)'Merica -- Waffle Houses are so well-known for staying open during almost any conditions, in some areas, the severity of weather conditions is sometimes measured by whether or not the local Waffle House stays open.

If Waffle House is closed... You know it's REALLY bad.

Last time I ate at IHOP, I wasn't impressed. On a good note, I was very impressed with my date!
I haven't eaten at Denny's in years.
I tend to stick with mom & pop eateries. My favorite place to have breakfast is in Georgia at Beaver Creek Biscuit Company, but they don't serve pancakes...still, it's my fave breakfast place! Their biscuits are the best I've eaten at an eatery, their sausage too. Also, I like the atmosphere as I'm not partial to the chain restaurant atmosphere.

I hear FEMA actually does use waffle House as a benchmark. If waffle House is closed, they need boots on the ground there.

Now we’re talking. Denny’s has tastier food but worse service than ihop. Heck, they’re both good. Tough one, but I lean toward Denny’s

I ate at an IHOP a few weeks ago for the first time since I was 8 or 9. It was WAY better than any Denny's I've been to in years. I had some sort of jalapeno burger and it was slightly spicy. I was surprised because most food items that are supposed to be spicy has no actual heat and it's just pickled jalapenos that only taste like vinegar.

Oh goodness, my temporary dyslexia set in and for some reason, I thought you were talking about pancakes with pickled jalapenos that tasted like vinegar.

I was afraid the thread had wandered down a very dark, heathen path!

We shall not discuss such heretical food!

I'll take IHOP over Denny's.

I'd have to flip a coin between Waffle House and IHOP.

Depending on your definition of heat, you might like McDonald's spicy chicken sandwich. The one with crispy chicken, not the hot and spicy mcchicken. The sauce has pureed habaneros, according to the ingredients listed on the box.

I say "depending on your definition of heat" because I know some people have burnt their mouths out so much that almost nothing tastes hot to them any more. If my uncle Fred says something has a little heat to it, I avoid it like the plague, because it is BLAZING! So your mileage may vary.

I'm afraid I'm someone like your uncle, I had ghost pepper wings that were a let down on the spiciness. They were strange too because after a few minutes of eating them all the heat and flavor went away and I could only taste the vinegar in the sauce. It ruined the whole batch for me and I threw them away lol. I've made nacho's at homer before with jalapeno's serrano's and various hot sauces that turned out way more hot than those ghost pepper wings. Smh

Dennys, easy. We have an IHOP down the street and we used to eat there sometimes. The service grew worse and worse, then the prices started going up as well (pre covid). It got so bad we quit going all together.
I've always enjoyed Denny's. When I was 18 I'd get off my overnight shift and go across the street and have breakfast and unwind. Then my best friend got hired and we went together. We made friends with two of the waitresses there.
Also when I lived in my car I spent every night at Denny's, both after work and on my days off. Waitresses came and went but many got pretty friendly and comfortable with me.
One of the managers even told me she preferred it when I was there haha.
And waffle house? 😂 No thanks.
Only thing I ever ate there, the times I was dragged in there, were the burgers (surprisgly good, I admit), but they had no fries or onion rings, just hash browns for your burger. 🙄

But... But... But the hash browns are their Really Big Deal! They have so many things to mix in with the hash browns! That's their whole thing.

If they had onion rings it would steal the spotlight from their star. Can't have that.

Crepes are the first thing I look for in determining the level of an establishment's excellence.

My family would go to IHOP every few weeks when I was a kid, and I loved it every time...but now, I don't even know if there is one near my current address. I also went to Denny's in my younger adult years, but not as often, and that stopped after my Mom passed away.

Uh oh. We are having our first disagreement .

I prefer Denny's over IHOP any day .

Nope! Both are here...

Well... I should hope at least IHOP is there. "International" is right there in the name. We could sue for false advertising, or at least misleading branding, if they were only in the USA. =^.^=
