What are stories in the Bible modern society makes it hard to read or understand?

For me it's Joshua 8, Ai destroyed. I can't read this without saying "AI" artificial intelligence. But it makes me feel good knowing Joshua fought the battle with AI and won. 🤣

I know there are a lot of serious ones out there too. How has modern society shaped how you read or understand the Bible?

For me, personally, I would say only in that I am far more ardent about reading Scripture when I consider todays Society and their morality.

However, in the understanding of Scripture, I rely on the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. I think Society has proven that is is incapable of any reasonable understanding of Scripture. I mean, given they can not agree on who is a male and who is a female, well..............

There are many ways to learn about the Bible today, such as Youtube, TV, radio, magazines, thick books, etc. so we have access to many different interpretations and points of view. Having all these options no doubt influences how we too interpret the Bible.

For me it is not society that determines how I understand the bible.
I've always been taught that we use the bible to understand the bible, not the sin influenc3d options of the world.
Either All scripture is God breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking and instructing so that the man of God might be fully equipped for every good deed prepared for him by God. Is true or none of it is true.

We might struggle to accept or understand many passages, but the problem is us not scripture.

As a young boy listening to preaching/teaching I just believed every single word I heard.
Then when I was studying through Mishnah and could read it just confirmed everything in the Old Testament.
When I finally added the New Testament it just fit perfectly like a completed puzzle.

But wildly and oddly enough, when I grew into a man and had to become part of society I began to reason things. And I went through a period where I was trying to reason the Stories I read in the Bible. This almost began to plant seeds of doubt because I started questioning is this really possible, did that actually happen, am I going to buy this?

Thankfully I realized this was a spiritual attack and I was in warfare. And when I applied that to my daily reading of the Bible I began to fall back into the same belief I had as a child.

I pray to God to never let me think like an adult when I read Your Word. Let me always have the faith like a child. He gave me the desires of my heart and I could not be more happier about it.

That Lot was prepared to give up his two daughters to the Sodomites, in return for the protection of the visitors who came to his house.

Genesis 19:4-8
4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

Maybe Lot knew the sodomites were not into women so they would be safe

The Entire Bible written is for us all, people's admonishment. to see the history of the people first born of flesh and blood as dead to God. The people in first birth of man and woman, are born as dead to God, because of Adam the first's failure in unbelief to God, who ate from that tree told not to eat from and did therefore, he is dead. as all still die to this day of flesh, all are first born as dead. God wants to save our souls, and does that through Son's done work for us to stand in belief and trust for the risen Life of Son to now work through us as forgiven and remain as forgiven by his love and mercy as shown on that cross, to me at least.
Everyone born after the first Adam and Eve ever since are first born as dead. No flesh since could please God perfectly ever. Only one man's flesh did that, that be Jesus, who stands out amongst the crowd, who did not ever sin, even though accused of it by the religious leaders in his day here on earth. Was here in the flesh (born of woman, not man) for us to get new life through his risen Life, after his one time willing death took away the curse of the first Adam. that the first Adam and Eve brought on to all mankind after them, in unbelief to eat, did not believe they would die as the crafty serpent told them they would not die. They believed the serpent's words, they heard. And so death of the flesh came to us all. That has not changed.
What has changed is: Born again from God to those that beleive God and will not deny or quit belief to God. Even if one does not understand as you state in this post about Joshua 8

Me seeing this: The Entire Bible written is a gigantic love letter to us the people to see to believe God has got yours, mine and all others, best interests at heart to not condemn anyone. Yet God will condemn
What????????? No!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes. you are given free choice, so is God. God, so far has chosen to save us in belief to his love and mercy for us each one person at a time.
So, choose or end up like those that got killed in continued unbelief to God, as God knows truth 100% of the time. I put my trust in God, not self or anyone else.
Read Matthew 18:24-35 and ask this. Is God righteous to take that man and put him in prison, whom he forgave and that man would not forgive, when God forgave him?

I see I m forgiven and am thankful beyond measure, I see to forgive as am forgiven. I am forgiven by God. And see to never take that for granted and harm anyone else ever, what is left is:
To believe God, trust God and be content in trust to learn from any and every mistake one makes after belief to God to see it in humility
Me, trusting God for you to see truth and believe also. God just loves you too

the simplicity was to just hear and believe the lord by his gospel which he sent to all people for salvation that is the truth

Many many people are speaking other things that bid a mind to accept and believe . this however is not a new scenario adam was on the same boat .God told him the truth about the fruit then satans whispers turned his ears from it unto a fable and led to adams destruction.

This ultra simple and seemingly obvious design is what eludes man and that evasion destroys life within them .

1.hear what God has said

2. Believe that he’s telling you the truth

3. Follow what he said knowing it will not fail or lead you astray

4. Receive everything he said you would when you heard and believed what he said

Reason is never the enemy of our faith.

It is always "reasonable" to believe our creator can do extraordinary things we cannot.

I have not been influenced by society when reading the Bible for I did not even think about modern society, and what was going on to understand the Bible.

I did not try to relate anything about modern society to understand the Bible, but read it and took it as it is.

I do not even care to learn from any person although I will hear them, but I check out everything for myself, which the Bereans received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so, and they were more noble because of that.

But Science is going to make all things compatible with the new age movement beliefs, and reality, saying they have new discoveries about everything which gives them a new perspective of all things, and say they were wrong about things.

The new age movement believes the Bible is the truth, but they interpret the Bible according to the occult and evolution, and people are evolving to be spiritual, and there is no personal God, and Science will say the Bible is the truth, and for the world to embrace the Bible, but they will give forth the new age movement interpretation, and say people have been interpreting the Bible wrong for years.

They say they are found a lost book of the Bible, and finding other writings which they will say gives them a new perspective of the Bible.

They talk about the Bible a lot now how atheists could learn from the Bible, and the things Christians misinterpret, or do wrong, and things Jesus did not say, and things Christians do that is not in the Bible, and the things that are good about the Bible, as they line up the Bible with a new interpretation.

Which the Bible says the time will come that people will not want to hear the truth of the Bible, but want to hear the Bible according to their own lusts, and be turned on to fables.
The new age movement believes aliens are going to help mankind to have peace, advance, and evolve, which Science will also take that position which they say they have proof of aliens now, and they received a laser message from 140,000,000 miles away.

Which Science says humans are not of the earth, and the world needs to prepare for an alien encounter.

The new age movement believes in evolution but they do not believe it according to the Darwinian worldview for they do not believe humans evolved from apes, but they are of the same lineage, but did not evolve from apes, and broke off from that lineage about 7 million years ago.

Science will take that position of evolution.

The plan is to change the current belief system of the world to the new age movement belief system, and Science will be the start of it which they will use their credibility that they provide facts, and proof, as they make all things compatible with the new age movement beliefs, and reality, and set it up for the New Age Christ when he begins to work in the world, and push the agenda of the new age movement for then people will get on board faster with Science setting up a new belief system to believe.

The devil only has 7 years to cause all people who do not love God to rebel against the truth so he wants things to operate as fast as possible, and for the people to accept as soon as possible.

It is time for God to end sin on earth.
