Hi, I am new to this site, I am looking for chats about the Bible. While I'm not new to my faith or the Bible, I am fairly new to studying the Bible in depth and learning more about God's word. I love hearing others understanding on the teaching in the Bible.

I was recently baptised in church last year after going back and forth about it. I was not baptised as a child although a few of my siblings were so I took matters into my own hands.

I find it hard to discuss things in church as I still feel like a 6 year old when I walk into my church I grew up in most of the church members are significantly older than me as well so I find it hard to communicate with them.

I am from New Zealand.

^ Gospel of John is often recommended as a great place to start reading the Bible.
This movie is a word-for-Word portrayal of John's gospel.

Have you heard of the Alpha Course?

There are 10 videos total. I hope you watch them. They could benefit you greatly :)

Welcome Jassy

over the years, standing in belief to Jesus as risen to never die again, is completed for us the people by God Father o,f Jesus to us all. I have made many mistakes along the way, I have read and read and read and read. Wanting to understand. What this new life talked of is all about.
I finally one day, a while ago now, I heard this in me, say to me. Read it to know me only. Since you willingly decide to do that, the truth of me will set you free to love all as I have loved you first on that cross for you to be reconciled in me to my Father for you. Believe, receive and eventually see, by not quitting belief.
No more busy and barren, seeing this, personally from God personally to me and you and all others too. It is a bumpy ride, yet worth it in belief to eventually see and continue to grow up in maturity and not think you know, yet know

That's very beautiful, thank you for sharing. Since I've been deep diving into the bible independently as of November last year I realised I barely knew anything. I could retell the stories in a basic child format. I couldn't repeat scriptures off my heart, I couldn't tell you where to look for anything in the bible. As of today I know two verses by heart. I now can tell some of the books in better description with the theme and context. So I am getting there. I have reread passages Ive already "deep" dived into and found more that I hadn't in the past.

You are not alone, in that truth. Re-reading and re-reading, brings out things, missed and also those that made sense then, yet forgot as time goes forward in busyness here on earth, that has been my experience

Welcome! I'm new here as well and find myself in a very similar situation. I have the basics down, but my in depth understanding and even ability to understand is subpar at best. I have a personality construct that makes forming connections and holding attention quite challenging. There are some things you just don't like to let out of the bag in person, so I'm optimistic this place serves as a means to ask questions and gain knowledge.

While I'm at work, or driving in my car, and sometimes at home, I have my radio on all the time to a Christian talk radio station where they have a variety of teachers pretty much 24/7. Over the years this frequency and consistency of listening to an assortment of teachers has really assisted in growing my understanding of certain aspects of the Christian faith, and I learn even from teachers I don't particularly care for. The radio station is online also kari55.com
