The scriptures nowhere declares, that the fruit of Christ's death is a possibility of the remission of sins, and Arminius never could produce any passage to teach such. And to speak of the fruit of Christ's death without scripture is untheological and unbiblical.

Scripture itself declares the effect of redemption is the actual remission of sins and restoration.
and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, Romans 3:24.

Also, there is nothing for the elect to do in order to acquire impunity or a right to life; but only that each of them, in their appointed order and time, enjoy the right purchased for them by Christ.

that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 2 Cor 5:19.

And so, yet another thread on this over-worn subject.

Well, either this was predestined to happen, or it's the choice of men.

I would rebut your assertion, but I'm not certain whether or not I'm predestined to do so.

Some must be predestined/ordained to oppose Calvinism according to Calvinism itself.

Arminius is inconsistent with theological truth.
Does anyone even know what Arminius really taught? In any event Arminius is totally irrelevant to most Bible-believing Christians. And so is Calvin. We all have Bibles, and we all can see exactly what is in them. Those ancient controversies are irrelevant, but the true Gospel is always relevant.

BTW the Five Articles of Remonstrance do not even have the term "the fruit of Christ's death". Here is what is in Article 2: "That, agreeably thereto, Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world, died for all men and for every man, so that he has obtained for them all, by his death on the cross, redemption and the forgiveness of sins." Here is what you said: "Scripture itself declares the effect of redemption is the actual remission of sins and restoration."

That is pretty much a match. So your allegation is totally false. Therefore it would be best to scratch out this thread.

Because you agree with article 2, that makes it relevant?

Article 2 – Unlimited atonement
This article rejects the concept of limited atonement, which asserts that Christ only died for those God chooses to be saved. This article asserts that Christ dies for all, but that salvation is limited to those who believe in Christ.

Yes, many know what Arminius taught. And if you agree with article 2, you also believe it's relevant, well it is to most bible believing Arminian Christians.

Therefore it would be best to retract your reply here.

I did not say that I do, but in fact I do since that is exactly what the Bible says. But you claimed something which was false to make Arminius look bad. So this whole thread is bogus.

Who was Arminius anyway?

He was a man who had an absurd teaching dumped in his lap, and as a means to escape the tyranny of irrational thinking, concocted (rather quickly) rationales as a means to remove himself from its grip..

Arminianism is not the true model to counter TULIP. It was a temporary means. When it was a pioneered it was a way used as a means to reclaim sanity in the face of those who want to dominate over others thinking.

Arminius was caught in a tyranny sandwich. One side was Catholicism, and the other slice were the TULIP advocates.

Seems that era was one of typically seeking to establish a way to dominate over others with dogma..

It seems to me that opponents of doctrine back then wrote against other's doctrine to establish their own.
Sadly to say, fleshly involvement for pride's sake or ambition's sake tainted their vision, much like it does now in televangelism & here on CC, as in people trying to become "champions of the faith" without anointing, or push their chosen dogma for the sake of "it" becoming the winner.
All of flesh, all of ambition, all for pride's sake.
That's why EVEN WHEN CORRECT, it is still sin.
IMHO, that is some of the worst sins of all, dragging Christ's name into the mud.

It can also be dragging Christ's name out of the mud by slinging the mud off of Him.... and hitting a few people in the process who put Him there. When refuting false doctrine usually someone will not like the process...

Look at this:

2 Cor 5:20... The very next verse:

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Be reconciled! Its not automatic even though Christ dies for you, the atonement must be applied through faith.

The Bible teaches Jesus died for false prophets as well. 2 Peter 2.

You are trying "reasonableness" where as, TULIP folks have disconnected the wires to the spiritual circuitry as a means to force themselves to accept the illogical conclusions that they do... which to them? Are logical!

Its a deception for those so inclined to reason along certain lines.... by means of the isolation of a concept (God's omniscience) that gets superimposed under by the concept of God's sovereignty.

TULIP manages to make God into a benevolent closed minded tyrant who we are not to question concerning what we sense as being illogical. "God gets what He wants!" Sort of like Muslims who would murder you for saying something bad about their prophet. It shuts out those who question what should be questioned...

Dye in the wool TULIP folks are by nature wanting to sit above others while covering their intention by claiming to be depraved and not worthy of anything good. They get what they want that way. "Sitting above others."

Its God's choice that we should not choose!

o_O "Like it or not! I am going to save you!"

Just another weird thing for intelligent unbelievers to study to take note of as to why they should be glad they never joined our "religious country club."

So the Seminary had a book sale and you stopped by I guess? Or maybe you had a friend who is a “great” theologian and he gave you a book or two on the subject?

No it dosent. That's just a misunderstanding.
