This weekend is the great weekend for all that are interested in not so great music, weird costumes and mediocre voices. We are talking about European Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden. Police forces are hired in from Denmark and Norway to control the crowds, not because of their fanatic love for music, but for their fanatic views on Israel.

For our non European readers I enclose a link to a video, to demonstrate the high quality of the performances expected this Weekend. A true classic.
Ukraine 2007

And one from this year: Finland 2024

The link you provided is fascinating to watch beginning to end. What happened in @2000 that caused such a change?

Is it permitted to say the b word in this thread, or will I get kicked out to Australia?

Yes, you can totally say that. We don't consider the Brits European anyway.
They live on an island and drive on the wrong side of the road and measure weights with 'stones' or whatever that means.

Still they have a long standing in ESC. So the b word doesn't count here. And some how Australia is a part of the contest as well. So. If you swim off to Australia, you can not escape the ESC

Why’s not Texas part of the shenanigans in Europe? 😂

Well... I mean... I've heard worse songs that became very popular in the USA.

And that accordion player was top tier. Didn't lag on one note.

Well... Some men are really into that. But they are mostly gay.

I'm arrow-straight, but I like music.

Do they live stream? Got a link?

I mean live streaming of 2024, as it happens.

Never mind. Google told me it just ended.

You know we only watch it on the state channel like the obedient social Democrats we are. Sorry if I gave you the wrong link, although it said the live streaming would show up there as well ...

Well!

I found the 2024 grand finale, and I found it is unavailable here in the USA. What, they don't want us watching it?

I did find something useful though.

Oddly I felt like I was watching the same song in bits and pieces. The beats and sounds were all different, but... except for two notable exceptions... they all felt like clips from the same song. They just all had the same "feel" to them.

Norway came last... And Switzerland won. Was it because of the song or the transgender...
