My personal tip is that using the above method with green wood, you can always add dry fuel or collected resins to the top to keep it burning as long as necessary.

Any other descriptions or videos that might be practical if the grid goes down or you decide to go camping are welcome. This thread should become a library of information on the subject for quick reference. It might just save someone's Bacon some day!

As a kid, I used a slingshot like this boy in the story's, but for target practice and rabbit. I thought if it as a defensive weapon too, but never had opportunity to use it for such. The kid in the story did one better.
