God's word is described as being like a seed. Not much is said about the sower but much is said about the conditions required for the seed to sprout and bear fruit. I used to think that this was purely about evangelism. I was wrong. Evangelism is purely the beginning of the work of God's word in our lives.

I may touch on other aspects of the parable later. For now I would like to focus on "the cares of the world and deceitfulness of riches". Let me explain.

Reading the NT, we find no mention of politics, no discussion about the evils of Roman rule, no marching in the streets against child abuse or other ethical dilemmas of the time. Did you know that Greeks would leave unwanted babies out in public? I was told years ago, it was to let them die. However, I found out later that's not correct. Other families may well have taken the babes into their own homes. A kind of informal adoption program. Of course, that would not be acceptable today. However, nothing is said about it in the NT.

I am as interested in the events in the Middle East and Europe as anyone. Partly this is because of my former military career. However, I have to watch myself as I realise that it is possible to become obsessed with worldly events. Part of the problem is that there is so much misinformation. Satan controls the world and he knows how to create division. Christians need to maintain objectivity and not get caught up in causes. It won't be Mr Trump or anyone else who makes America great again (if it was ever as good as many imagine it was). The Body of Christ is the true power and authority on earth. Satan controls the world, but we have victory, authority and power over Satan. When believers finally quit fighting each other and turn on Satan, we will get somewhere. (Psalm 133)

Do not let the cares of the world hinder your walk with Christ. This world is on the road to destruction. Our job is to call people to change direction and join us on the path to life.

I agree with you. A Christian should not concern themselves with the worlds problems. WHY? Because they are the "Worlds" problems and Christians are passing through this world and should not involve themselves in the corrupt systems of the world. Unless, the world comes crashing in on them and they have no choice.

Christians should be looking for the ones that God has prepared, (The good soil), and give them the Gospel message.

We are told to stand against the attacks of the enemy and resist the devil who will then flee from us. We are also to be vigilant since he either comes as an angel of light to deceive, or as a roaring lion to intimidate. He is also "the accuser of the brethren".

Other than that we must leave him in God's hands. Michael the archangel said to him "The LORD rebuke thee". So did Christ in Zechariah3:2. And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

Amen Gods word of the kingdom is a seed that will grow within us it’s based on a promise that God would come soeak a word that would cause the people to repent and obey him a word that would make them righteous

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not?

hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:1-3, 6-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:19-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

just like when we plant a seed in the ground and know it’s going to grow into a plant or tree that bears fruit so is the word of God planted in the heart of a believer who truly believes even when the world resists against us

I can fully see in Luke's account that the sower is none other than the Lord. Notice it states, "his seed." And the seed is the word of God. His seed, his word. Interesting...

Luke 8
5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

Yes.

The world is embroiled in a propaganda war.

One side is speaking blasphemous things against the people of God and God Himself.
The other is claiming "Lord! Lord!" but their solution to the problems is politics and the will of the people.

The sons of God belong the neither of these sides.

Certainly, evil prospers when good men do nothing. However, when the people of God take up the ways of the world judgement quickly follows.

Yes and the soul is the hearts of the people receiving his word we’re told to believe

“But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭8:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Gods word in the gospel works in us to change us produce the fruit of the spirit of we hear it and believe

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

his word is what is active to change our hearts and minds from deception to truth which produces fruit because the tree is made good inwardly the fruit growing also becomes good

If we don’t let it be rooted in our hearts the word can’t grow and produce fruit or change our Will from sin to Gods good will

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He works in us by telling us the truth and bidding us to believe it in our hearts

Brilliantly put -- I am also former military and have been many times to the Middle East and experienced different cultures than our Judeo-Christian, if you will. culture we have in America. People are allowing their faith in causes to outweigh their Christianity --- think Christian Nationalists fit this bill. You are right, Satan is the master deceiver, and he knows that Jesus is coming back soon and his working hard in the last days to pull as many away from submitting to Christ as he can, not caring what they believe in as long as they don't believe in Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen

Thank you for the post.

In my Bible study group, it is hard to keep politics out.

When I used to teach Sunday school, the class would get miffed with me when I refused to discuss politics. That is OF THE WORLD. We are here in church and Sunday school to get away from the world for a few hours and give God a little "me time", where HE wants your attention and worship and to hear you pray. Not a time to bring presidential issues into church, we are separate from the world, but that is getting harder and harder to distinguish these days. Churches are polarizing due to political beliefs, and every day there is another politician or famous person exposed doing dirty, immoral acts and leading sinful lifestyles --- wolves in sheep's clothing are beginning to outnumber the sheep.

My study group found it refreshing to look at the Israel, Hamas war through the lens of scripture. When you see it as a war between two brothers prophesied since the time of Abraham the propaganda of the day loses its sway. The whole group thanked me for bring it up and expounding on the scriptures. Most of them were disappointed that their pastors wouldn’t touch the topic.

That is an awesome way to approach it, from what it is, a Biblical war that has been prophesized for centuries.

to simplify it -- descendants of Ishmael vs descendants of Isaac, if you will

Abraham is known as the patriarch of the Israelite people through Isaac, the son born to him and Sarah in their old age and the patriarch of Arabs through his son Ishmael, born to Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's Egyptian servant.

Jesus's Olivet discourse covers events for the last 3.5 years before his coming. He starts it with many who come in his name deceiving many and then the persecution of the saints in Israel begins. Jesus mentioned the prophet Daniel by name and of his prophecy.Daniels prophecy Jesus spoke of is very long and covers decades of events leading up to the coming of Christ. The beginning of the persecution of the saints in Israel begins in Daniel 11:33.

There are 32 verses before this verse.

There's a lot of signs people could miss if they do not watch.

Amen brother, there way to many worldly and unsaved people being pacified in the churches today. This nonsense of trying to make churches more relevant to todays people is ridicules. It just simply makes people of the world more comfortable in church. Tarnishing the worship and the ability to edify the Saints. The true purpose of the assembly.

Your interpretation of the Palestine and Israel conflict may be incorrect.

Israel is the enemy of Christianity according to Paul.

Romans 9:7-8
Nor are they all children because they are Abraham’s descendants, but: “through Isaac your descendants shall be named.”
That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.

Romans 11:28
In relation to the gospel they are enemies on your account, but in relation to God’s choice
they are beloved on account of the fathers.

The only true descendants of Abraham were the children of the promise. The promise that was
delivered through Abraham's descendants, that is, Jesus Christ.

Many Christians are confused regarding the nation of Israel and Christianity.

‭‭John‬ ‭5:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.”

“Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.”

“But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. When the Lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?

Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, The same is become the head of the corner: This is the Lord's doing, And it is marvellous in our eyes? Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.”

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: …..
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:34-35‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judæa and Samaria, except the apostles.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭9:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“but shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judæa, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me. Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: that Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:20-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There’s always another layer

“I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew.

…. I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness? For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world,

what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.

For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, And shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, When I shall take away their sins

. As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes:

but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”

My interpretation is the king of Babylon is now smiting the Palestinians with a rod.And yes,the king of Babylon is an enemy of Christianity. But I see all of the middle east being destroyed and only them who are in Christ surviving Armegeddon. After the king of Babylon is destroyed, they are all destroyed.

Isaiah 14
29 Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.
30 And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.
31 Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.
32 What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the Lord hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.

Your quotation from Isaiah 14:31 states the following.

"for there shall come from the north a smoke"

Palestine is destroyed from the north.

Israel is adjacent to Palestine, Gaza is on the western side of Israel.

The West Bank is on the eastern side of Israel.
