I have been discussing with my friend if the suffering to those condemned to hell eventually ends, my views are that there is no end because the Book of Revelation explicity states that the devil, the false prophet and the beast are thrown alive into the lake of fire which means they are not even Judged, and they are tormented forever and ever. Then the wicked humanity are resurrected and condemned after judgment and they join the original three in hell. My friend holds the view that the fires of hell burn them and they perish eventually, which doctrine is true?

Why does it matter which is true. Both are the result of not trusting God. Both sound undesirable. Trusting God sounds more desirable thatn either of these consequences for not trusting Him.

If the potential sentence for a crime is 3 years to life, would you commit the crime if you thought you would only get three years?

Some of those verses about hell and forever, the short is some will say it does not mean forever, others say it does. I will just say this, we know He said we will never die have ever lasting life. Well there is no time and space where God is. So that fire were talking about is not based in time. So one day in that fire (oh forgive me Father) could be as 1000 years. Yet after this life.. we will not be thinking about this ever. Here on this earth if we truly believe what we say .. maybe we should speak up more.. we might be the only Jesus they see

In the Gospel of Mark Jesus says, ' Where the worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched.'
This means the fires of Hell never stop. Also means those in Hell will last as long as the fire lasts. Forever!

Many people get mixed up with words like "forever" and "always" and with phrases like "forever and ever". Wisdom is needed to understand if those words and phrases mean "for all time" (where time comes to an end) or "from age to age" (where ages come to an end) or "for eternity" (which never comes to an end).

Death and Hell are spirits who rule over positions of authority named after them.

At the end of this age, they are thrown into the Lake of Fire.

"And there were open books, and one of them was the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their deeds, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades gave up their dead, and each one was judged according to his deeds.
Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death—the lake of fire.

Being thrown into the Lake of Fire is the second death. People whose names are not in the Lamb's Book of Life are also thrown into the Lake of Fire.

"And if anyone was found whose name was not written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

Revelation goes on to describe the condition of the new age as one where:

"..and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.”

So there is no death or morning. Furthermore:

"Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all."

God is "all in all". All that is in the new age with the New Jerusalem will be God.

Long story short: all who opposed the Lord are destroyed. They do not suffer eternal conscious torment. Their torment, however, will be sufficient for their offenses.

Yes, because eternity begins for the saints and the wicked because the Bible explicitly states that:

In those days men shall seek death and shall not find it

I believe the verse above to mean that the wicked will desire to die but death will flee from them because the new age will have arrived

Heaven and hell are eternal. Those in hell are separated from God eternally;;there is no second chance. And the Satanic trinity is thrown into hell for 1000 years, then come back to have a final war with God and the saved are separated from the condemned. I hope this helps you.

Yes they do suffer eternal conscious torment, forever separated from God.

Precisely, this verse backs up the view that the torment is day and night and there is no end to it. He added that men will gnash their teeth and that is why we have to overcome the world and sin.

God is not unjust.
The punishment is not suffering in pain forever. It's effects are forever. People need to understand that we are not immortal and that God will not purposely keep us alive to suffer eternally.
Just will be served and a just God does not cause people to suffer eternally when their sin was for a single lifetime.

Jud 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Eternal fire

Sodom is not on fire today....

The term eternal is misused.

It means everlasting. But not the way the Catholic church invented in the dark ages.

The concept of Hell as a place of everlasting burning and pain was introduced by the catholic church....

A study will reveal the truth.

Eg...hell = geenna

Definition: Hell is the place of the future punishment call "Gehenna" or "Gehenna of fire" . This was originally the valley of Hinnom, south of Jerusalem, where the filth and dead animals of the city were cast out and burned; a fit symbol of the wicked and their future destruction.

A literal place of destruction. A place that burned rubbish continually but the rubbish eventually turned to ash.

If we burn eternally we will NOT DIE and the bibles teaches that we do die.

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

......Not perish...... those that are not saved DO PERISH.

Jesus preaches to those in Hell and they have a choice even there. They will be forgiven and removed from the Devils captivity receiving Gods kindness and mercy.

Actually, this subject distresses me. In our faith all the great sinners shall be forgiven. What becomes of the abused lifelong kindly people? The abusers are forgiven and welcomed into Heaven, the abused and kind are welcomed to stand alongside their murderers, rapists, robbers, in Heaven. It does not seem fair. I imagine there may be deep spiritual resentment. Will the innocent experience resentment at the last and be excluded from Heaven? In this way then the innocent is cheated of their natural well deserved inheritance. Isn’t that the objective of the Devil after all? In a way, the Bible seems to teach devious crafty sinners on just exactly how to cheat the well meaning and innocent righteous.

You're only forgiven if you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior while you're alive and remain in Him to the end.

Hebrews 9:27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,

If you reject Him while you were alive and then died, you missed your chance.
