Indeed! Coconut meringue is my favorite.
I've made other meringues: coffee, banana pudding (in pie form), butterscotch, chocolate, etc.
Carrie comes from my great grandmother and Pie is a nickname that comes from work.

Tonight is Senior Citizens night so we are going to Captain D's. Jeff and I are having 2 piece fish dinner(Alaskan Pollock), fries, 2 hush puppies(Jeff), and Janice(breadstick) green beans flavored with country ham, and 2 drinks with tax $16.and some cents.
Captain D's is so good!

Did you ever meet your great grandmother?
Yes, she was from Mississippi and I liked to visit and listen to her accent. She was a good cook, though I was too young at the time to learn from her.

Do you like/have you ever had rhubarb pie?

Yes, it's one of my favorites!
I especially like it with a few ripe strawberries. We used to have a patch as a kid. I've not been able to get it going the couple times in my yard.

How smashing! Strawberry rhubarb is my favorite fruit pie. My family always liked to have a scoop of vanilla ice cream along side a warm slice of it. I also have fond memories of a scoop of vanilla ice cream along side some warm cobbler.

Strawberry rhubarb jam is also tasty, especially when paired with scratch biscuits.

I wish I had a rhubarb garden. Unfortunately, I have a toxic thumb. I sometimes wonder if the plants are dying when I walk by them at the greenhouse! I feel like once the food is in the kitchen, I'm a whiz. Before then, I feel like I'm faltering. I'm thankful for what I can do though.

Don't feel bad. That's true of most people even those who grow their own food. It's like anything. There's a learning curve and there's lots of things that can go wrong. Kitchen skills are valuable too. The main reason restaurants and hospitals thrive around here is because most people don't prepare much of their own food.

As too ice cream and strawberry rhubarb pie, I already ate too many dates... If I had to settle on just one favorite pie, it that would probably be it......AND pecan pie....
You have to have ice cream with them/ it too.
It's the law.

It's the law? Now I understand where my addiction came from! In the country, we'd go walking or riding our bicycles down the country roads looking for blackberry bushes. We'd pick them and on the 4th of July my grandmother would make blackberry cobbler. My uncle would make vanilla ice cream. It just seems like anything homemade just tastes so much better.

Some day I should give gardening a try again. I would think coming from a family with green thumbs, I'd be better at it. I can make more things from scratch than they could/can though.

Pecan pie is incredibly smashing too. It's also fun to make.

Yes, in West Virginia it's against the law to eat pie without ice cream. You don't have to have a particular ice cream though. Just ask this guy . 😁

At least that's the way I think on the rare occasion I eat pie or cheese cake.. Have you ever tried a non gluten crust? Just curious if there are any good crust recipes out there that are proven yet? I've used box mixes for pizza and some are ok, but never for a pie crust, which is ok because the filling is the best part and what goes with ice cream.

Cheesecake is good too! For 4th of July last year I made red velvet whoopie pies with a cheesecake filling. Very tasty.

I have not tried non gluten crust. Anymore, I've been doing crustless pies to lighten the pie...though my dad insists that pies need a crust. I've even done crustless pecan pie.

Have you tried/do you like non gluten crust?
