You are reading from Adstar's script.

You are also talking about women as though they are commodities or servants.

What happens if you fall in love with a woman who can provide nothing for you? If you fall in love with a disabled woman who is poor and cannot bear children, what will you do?
lynx, you are reaching to a point of overamplification, in other words paralysis by analysis. 1st, i never heard of Adstar. i don't look at women as commodities or servants. people on CC ought to stop thinking & guessing what others mean especially in a far reaching way.

Why do you mean by, promoted?
He means that she dies and leaves him free to pursue a 30-year-old.
incorrect. promoted in the Christian language means someone who died went to heaven!
In your original post, you said that if your wife was "promoted," you would look to marry a 30-year-old.

Ms Mediator asked what you meant by "promoted." I said, "He means that she dies," which is exactly what you meant.

Therefore, my given answer was indeed the correct definition.

If we are familiar with ducks, and you quack like a duck, it is normal to assume you are a duck.

The things you said about younger women being more viable as spouses are all things Adstar and a few others keep saying. They pull up these comments all the time to justify their preference for younger women.

If you say the same things we got to assume you're like them. You may need to explain what you mean so we will know why you are not like them.

my explanation is clear. it's people's self interests & assumptions that they answer by & that's what obviates them from discerning the truth.

Just so I'm clear on what you mean:

You are saying what you have stated is your observation about the motivation of guys in general, but you are also saying it does not influence your decision?

Ah.

Then I misunderstood you. When you said you were going to find a 30-year-old woman, I thought you were serious about what you personally wanted.

Proverbs 31:

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. 24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

The woman in Proverbs 31 is a metaphorical representation of what the church should be. Not an actual single individual. A single individual woman would die of exhaustion trying to do all and be all of that.
Well - she doesn't have to do all of that in a single day! :p

It is talking about an individual; however, it is not so much a 'to do' list as it is a description-by-example of characteristic personality traits of a 'virtuous' woman. In other words, this passage considers a woman to be 'virtuous' if she has a mentality, disposition, and habit/practice that:

~ is trustworthy
~ is responsible
~ is dependable
~ is diligent
~ is not lazy
~ is industrious
~ is conscientious
~ is kind and caring
~ seeks to do good and not evil
~ persistent in taking care of her husband, household, and children
~ is focused on being productive rather than being preoccupied with worldly vanity

Yes - it also has a certain application to the Church - as compared to the woman in a marital relationship.

I can't help but see it as the "Bride of Christ ".....just saying....my wife can't make girdles worthy of the marketplace but that doesn't mean that she isn't one in a million.

I think it depends on the woman. I've met some women half my age whom I've clicked with very well (unfortunately one in particular I am thinking of was not saved). I also met a woman a bit older than me (but dang was she hot)... but again, not saved. So, it depends.

My only concern with being with someone younger is the looks we would get in church. But, I've also been alone for well over 14 years now, so I cannot concern myself with that.

I once asked if we could plant a vineyard at church or even any plants and the pastor at the time said no they wanted to turn whatever land the church had into a giant carpark.

so instead of having grapes we have parking tickets.

I think generation in the Bible meant lineage NOT what people are now doing which is sort people into different age categories.

THIS generation was meaning, the Jews or all those descended from Judah. It wasnt really meaning people of a certain age group.

They would then say everyone else who wasnt Jewish was gentile.

so when they were fussy about marriage it was more they didnt want anyone Jewish marrying say, a Samaritan. Or if they did marry someone who wasnt Jewish, that person would need to convert.

I dont understand the age gap thing. I think men and women who find each other attractive disregard age if they really like each other but it may cause problems later on because age is not fixed thing, people just do not stay the same age forever, everyone gets older just fact of life and life expectancy varies. I think some people has idea that younger is better with more energy but young can also mean stupidly naive and immature. There are also many many insteance in the Bible about older women past childbearing age who have miracle births lol

I am sure God was testing Abraham if he would stick with Sarah while they waited 25 years to have their firstborn. Even Sarah was like...go have one with my younger maid.

Yea.

basically if you date or marry someone old enough to be your parent or child. Ok dating you dont always know as dating is just restricted to the time you spend together on dates. But marriage is something else since it is meant to be for life.

There will be problems when it comes to retirement and the level of care needed plus you wont really be equal its something to overcome. Its hard for the younger person to be in that sort of marriage I think the older one is going sweet I dont need to work as hard or is sort of oblivious to what the younger person may need.

I work with a guy who is 58 years old, and he once said to me that he would love to date a "hot young chick" (his words) around 21 years old. I just had to laugh, and I told him that a "hot young chick" to me would be more like 40-45. :giggle:

Seriously though, I prefer women around my own age. My wife and I have been married for over 30 years now and I am only about two weeks older than her. Our birthdays are coming up soon and we will both be 58 years old. :)
