I was quoting that Scripture (Mat 7:20...Jam 2...) because you said ..
all we need to do is believe.
The point being that many who do believe and think they are saved will not end up being saved.
The devil believes and understands the plan of salvation but he will not be saved.
Faith without works is dead.

And if the motive isn't right God knows.
By their fruits you will know them.

The only condition is Jesus Christ.
Justification and sanctification by faith.
Imputed and imparted righteousness by faith.
The devil can't be saved by belief. He has no one who died for his sins. So whether he believes or not is immaterial. But it is instructional. His belief is only in the existence of Jesus. His belief is not trusting in the life and death and resurrection of Jesus.

Romans 8:1-2; 5:57 + 58b
:)
In Romans 7:25-8:2, Paul contrasted the Law of God with the law of sin and contrasted the Law of the Spirit of Life with the law of sin and death, so he equated the Law of God with the Law of the Spirit of Life, and the Law of Moses is referred to as being the Law of God in verses like Nehemiah 8:1-8, Ezra 7:6-12, and Luke 2:22-23. In Romans 8:4-7, those who walk in the Spirit are contrasted with those who have minds set on the flesh who are enemies of God who refuse to submit to the Law of God.

While it is true that there is now therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ, those who are in Christ are obligated to walk in the same way he walked (1 John 2:6), and Christ walked in obedience to the Mosaic Law, so those who are not walking in obedience the Mosaic Law should not consider the verses that speak about those who are in Christ to be referring to them.

Let me know when you have walked on water. Okay? Thanks!

John 8:36 plus Romans 8:2 If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death.
:)

The law you promote is the law of sin and death. Those who put themselves under it are cursed, because you cannot keep them, and failing in one point, you fail in all. I am saved by grace through faith in the shed righteous blood of Jesus Christ, Who paid the sin debt.

Our salvation is from sin (Matthew 1:21) and sin is the transgression of God's law (1 John 3:4), so living in obedience to God's law is not something external to salvation that we need to do first in order to have it, or that maintains it, or that is evidence of it, but rather living in obedience to it is intrinsically the content of what God's gift of salvation is. For example, honoring our parents is intrinsically the content of God's gift of saving us from not honoring our parents. In Psalms 119:29-30, he wanted to put false ways far from him, for God to be gracious to him by teaching him to obey His law, and he chose the way of faith by setting it before him, so this has always been the one and only way of salvation by grace through faith.

The way that we choose to live expresses what we believe. In other words, our goal is to be in God's image, so if we believe that God is good, then we will do good, if we believe that God is just, then we will do what is just, and so forth. God is trustworthy, therefore His law is also trustworthy (Psalms 19:7), so the way to trust God is by obediently trusting in God's instructions, and it is contradictory to think that we just need to trust God instead of trusting in His instructions. In Proverbs 3:5-7, we have a choice between whether we are going to lean on our own understanding of right and wrong by doing what is right in our own eyes or whether we are going to trust God with all of our heart to correctly divide between right and wrong by obeying His instructions in all of our ways and He will make our way straight.

This is why the Bible repeatedly connects our belief/faith in God with our obedience to Him. For example, in Matthew 23:23, Jesus said that faith is one of the weightier matters of the law. In James 2:18, he would show his faith by his works. In Romans 1:5, we have received grace in order to bring about the obedience of faith. In Romans 3:31, our faith upholds God's law. In Revelation 14:12, those who kept faith in Jesus are the same as those who kept God's commandments. In John 3:36, believing in Jesus is equated with obeying him. In Hebrews 11, every example of faith is an example of works. In Numbers 5:6, disobedience to God's law is described as breaking faith. In Hebrews 3:18-19, unbelief is equated with disobedience. And so forth, so the Bible never treats belief as being an alternative to obedience to God.

Nowhere does the Bible say that.

Sin is what is contrary to God's nature, so the fact that God's nature is eternal, means that what is contrary to God's nature is also eternal. When people commit sin is a different issue than what sin is.
Your logic is astounding. Faithlessness is contrary to God's nature. Should I assume faithlessness is eternal. Death is contrary to God's nature. Should I assume death is eternal. Everything contrary to God's nature is eternal?
What makes something eternal is that it lasts forever. Sin won't last forever. Therefore, it is not eternal.

I've not walked on water. How is that relevant to what I said?

The new living way is Jesus
He replace the old way which was the ceremonial laws that dealt with sin.

The shadow is replaced by the real thing.
The schoolmaster was the old way of dealing with sin. The flesh and blood of Jesus has replaced these old ordinances.

Sin has not changed.

The law that defines sin is the same.

The 10 commandments are not removed by Jesus.
The act of murder has always been a sin.
The act of covetousness has always been a sin.
The 10 commandments define sin.
The blood of Jesus deals with sin. Pays for it.

Heb 10:16-20
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. 18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. 19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

You're not bothering to distinguish between what something is and whether it is still happening. What faithlessness s remains the same even where there is no one who is faithless and the same goes with sin and death. The fact that God's nature is eternal means that the things that are in accordance with or contrary to His nature are eternal. For example, is it eternally true that charity is in accordance with God's nature and committing adultery is contrary to God nature, and if that were to ever change, then God's nature would not be eternal, and this is true regardless of whether or not it is still possible to do charity or commit adultery.

John 17:2-3~ You granted Him authority over all people, so that He may give eternal life to all those You have given Him. Now this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, Whom You have sent.:)

obligated to walk on water
Joh 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Mat 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Phi 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Scripture does not teach this. So while you bemoan that others do not go by what Scripture actually
says, you do the same thing and try to pass off your opinions as being Biblical when they are not.

Jesus' words in Matthew 17:20-21
Faith the size of a mustard seed moved the mountain of my unbelief .:)

obligated to walk on water
The Bible repeatedly speaks about walking out the Mosaic Law, so that is what 1 John 2:6 is not saying that those who are in Christ are obligated to walk on water, but that we are obligated to walk in obedience to the Mosaic Law, especially because the Mosaic Law is God's instructions for how to be in Christ.

While the only way to become righteous is through faith apart from being required to have first done righteous acts in order to earn it as a wage, becoming righteous through faith means becoming someone who practices righteousness through faith, so it is contradictory to become righteous apart from becoming someone who practices righteousness. God's law is His instructions for how to practice His righteousness, not for how to become righteous. For example, God's law reveals that it is righteous to help the poor, but no amount of helping the poor will ever cause someone to become righteous because the only way to become righteous is through faith. So when God declares us to be righteous through faith, He is declaring us to be someone who practices His righteousness through faith in obedience to His law in accordance with the example that Christ set for us to follow.

Scripture does not teach this. So while you bemoan that others do not go by what Scripture actually
says, you do the same thing and try to pass off your opinions as being Biblical when they are not.
For example, God's righteousness is eternal (Psalms 119:142), therefore all of His righteous laws are eternal (Psalms 119:160). If the way to act in accordance with God's righteousness were to change, then God's righteousness would not be eternal, that's not me trying to pass off my opinion, but rather that's what the words mean.

The fact that the way to act in accordance with God's nature is eternal means that the way to not act in accordance with God's nature is also eternal. This is unrelated to what prevents another fall or to a potentially infinite recurrence of sin and death or saying that evil is equivalent to God. It would meaningless for God to be good without something that defines what is and is not good, so the moment "good" is defined, "not-good" is also defined by being its opposite.
you are arguing that evil is equivalent to goodness, so that there is from before all things a force of evil equivalent to God.

it's essentially gnosticism, an eternal battle between two equivalent gods.

i do not agree that you must have a negation of goodness in order for goodness to exist. if this were so then death must exist or else there is no life - but death will be destroyed, the last enemy.

so what you are suggesting is contrary to the worldview of scripture. you're saying that not only God has immortality, but also Satan - that Satan is 'like the Most High'

NOBODY can follow the Mosaic law today, nor could they for the past two thousand years with no Temple.

You are a false teacher.
