The Two Advents Described

The two verses are arranged in successive verses, which is really cool.

First Advent:
Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Second Advent:
Zechariah 9:10 And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.

Another passage which speaks of the two advents is found in Isaiah 61:1,2 quoted by Christ in Luke 4: 18,19, but without this clause "and the day of vengeance of our God".

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord...

Why did Christ stop there. Because "the acceptable year of the Lord" applied to the grace of God coming to mankind through Christ at His first advent. We are currently in the Gospel Age or the Age of Grace, which began with the birth of Christ. But it will not last forever, and "the day of vengeance of our God" will begin in the not too distant future. That is when divine judgments will be poured out on earth before the Second Coming of Christ.
