Finally, brothers and sisters...

We all know the verse

"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." Philippians 4:8

My question is...what does this mean to you? What is Paul referring to here? Obviously, the word of God would be a good choice. The Bible is something we should all be thinking about. But what else, esp the bold words?

This is one of my favorite verses and I thought it would be fun and interesting to inspect it a little closer together.

Somebody cheated you out of a promotion five years ago: That doesn't fit this verse.

Somebody left donuts in the break room for everyone. That does fit this verse.

Someone has been spreading rumors about you: That doesn't fit this verse. (Let your life make it obvious that the rumors are lies.)

You have everything you need and a lot of the stuff you want: That does fit this verse.

Whatever is true
Whatever is noble
Whatever is right
Whatever is pure
Whatever is lovely
Whatever can be admired
If there is anything good in this world
Just think about that
