I have done my best since the moment I believed it was an obligation for believers, yep. That is all that's required.

We all stumble often.
James 3:2
So you need to just try your hardest not to sin? That's what is required to be and stay saved?

I will only bother to direct you to my post above this one time as you can read it mulitple times or ignore it.

The truth is, the Bible states a person is cursed for trying to follow the law and they bring it on themself by attempting to fulfill their own righteousness. No part of the law saves anyone.

This op you have created is not biblical.

I won't answer any response you post in contradiction as you are in contradiction of scripture. You are not the judge of anyone here but have failed to judge yourself by the word.
Yeah, ok.

As always, somebody jumps up and claims that it's been declared that we must obey the 10 Commandments as a means to Salvation. Nobody has stated that yet. Only Jesus saves. Obedience to the Commandments is only part of the recipe and Jesus Himself says that those who love Him WILL obey the Commandments.

I post nothing that isn't straight from the Bible.

Nice talkin to ya.

No, I won't waste my time digging one up, but it's been said countless times on every single forum I've ever been on.

"You're cursed if you obey the Commandments!"

"You will be damned under the Law!!"

... etc., etc.

You've been around long enough, Post. You know good and well that's true.

You've probably even said it yourself, multiple times.
The curse is for those who base their salvation on their adherence to the law. These have never come out from being under the law and are still subject to its judgment. Since they all fall short, they all must be condemned.
Christians are still to obey the law, but no longer under its condemnation, cannot be condemned.

It should go without saying, but before the op tries to state that people think we can sin all we want because we are not under the law,
let's be clear that is a non sequitur.

Let's not let him re-direct people to be on the defensive by responding to that very popular false claim by those who wish to put a 'yoke of slavery' on the necks of those who are saved by God's grace through faith in His Son.

You will not be 'free' to sin if you actually follow Christ and wish to live in the new life He gives.
Nobody is free to sin.

The Bible defines sin in 1 Jn. 3:4 as the breaking of the 10 Commandments. That proves that Christians can still sin, which proves we must still obey the Commandments.

Did Jesus teach the 10 Commandments?

Did Jesus obey them all?

Did His followers, the first Christians, obey them after His death?

All proof of the continuity of the 10 Commandments to this very day.

Following the LAW, and using the LAW as a guideline, are 2 entirely different actions being made.
the key is, which one, are you doing?

Nobody's claimed that, but can you produce that quote from Jesus?
Why would it only be considered if Jesus says it? Are His words anymore God breathed than any other scripture? Are His words more inspired?

i feel the rug being pulled here.....the 2 Commandments, Jesus said to Obey, literally cover the 10.
so, in Theory, JESUS, is saying, obey all 10 of them.

but you will NEVER get a Calvin follower to admit that.

No Christian will accept/admit that the 10 Commandments must still be obeyed today until they accept the 3 undeniable facts straight from the Bible.

1. Jesus taught the 10 Commandments.
2. Jesus obeyed the 10 Commandments.
3. Jesus' followers obeyed the 10 Commandments after His death.

That is the simplest recipe for the absolute demolition of the modern false teaching that we are not to obey them anymore.

And nobody can disprove any of those 3 using Scripture.

Calvin never said that the law shouldn't be obeyed. He argued that it was inefficient as a means for fallen man to acquire the necessary righteousness for salvation.

What quote? The teaching?

The Rich Young Ruler followed them his whole life. Jesus never said he was lying about that. In fact, Jesus loved him and tried to get him to see that he needed Him, and that he could never be saved by following the Law.

As believers in Christ, we have fulfilled the Law by loving Him, and loving our neighbors as ourselves.

There is no need. You are misrepresenting what Christians believe. Christians don't say we aren't to obey the law. They say we indeed are to obey. What they are also saying is they are not keeping them as a means of achieving righteousness. Christ's righteousness has been imputed to us.

The LAW, is a System.
the Commandments, are direct sins towards God.

Your point? I said Calvin never advocated for disobedience. Can you show me where he did?
why be arguing what Braweh is saying then?
basically, Jesus said, to OBEY those Commandments.
why do people push the GRACE baloney, when these are COMMANDS to actually be Obeying?

There is a big difference between obeying commandments because you love God and obeying to be righteous before God. I'm advocating the first. He's advocating the second.

Paul affirms in Romans 7 that the "commandment is holy" and that the law is "holy, and just and good". However, he realized that he could not keep the law perfectly. Paul had to rely on the righteousness of Christ, who fulfilled the law (cf. Matthew 5).

John said that Jesus is our "Advocate with the Father" for when we do sin.

We obey Christ because we love Him (with the help of the Holy Spirit within us). However, on this side of life, we cannot live totally sinless. The Scriptures say that salvation is not by works but by faith.
