I have had a tough journey getting to know today. I had felt scared, angry, frustrated, overwhelmed, misunderstood and betrayed. Jesus said to pray for your enemies. So today, I did just that.
I asked our Lord to forgive them, though I could not at the moment. But nevertheless, forgive them for the evil they speak. Forgive them for their ignorance and pride. Humble them with your knowledge. Because only you God, only you can define what is Just. amen

I had a lawyer who had gone through a rape case I had last year-one that was continued this year. Though he is not working on this case, he decided to mention it to me. One of the things he said was that he didn’t mean to embarrass me. No.. he did not embarrass ME. He embarrassed himself. For speaking on something he knows nothing about. He looked me in my eyes and told ME it was “alleged” and was actually consensual. Above all, he challenged me. And tried to say I called his coworkers liars-just because I pointed out the fact that they missed to document information. Tonight, I ask myself. What was his reason to do such things? To go an extra mile on something he does not even plan to fight for. His reason to speak such ignorance.

I am confident that there is a plan for everything in this life. I am confident that I will be okay. I have the strength and faith of God. I may not be able to understand today. But, it is not up to me to understand why. It is up to God.

The use of the word alleged actually makes sense. I watch a lot of police shows and YT channels. And even on the news itself, the word alleged is common. It's used because "innocent until proven guilty". Until an accusation is proven and ruled on in court it is nothing more than an accusation. Therefore an alleged behavior. Even being caught red handed, by police, on body cam, requires the use of alleged until ruled on in court.

As for his motives, one can do nothing more than speculate. He himself is the only one that can answer with any certainty.

Was there a prayer request, or were you merely venting?

I pray that God gives you that peace that passeth all understanding. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Isaiah 54:17

I know how you feel because my lawyer did the exact same thing after a serious injury from someone who tried to bash my head in. They nearly killed me and after a year plus of doing very little he acted as if he was working for the opposition. They were a retail manager of a store for the biggest supplement company in the world. It also involved a company of one of the most powerful multi maires in the state.
In hindsight my lawyer must have been working for them for multiple reasons I won't mention now. I was battling the biggest law firm in the state and they more than likely paid him off. The lawyer jokes are funny because they are so true. I'm not saying what you should do, but I should have had a tape recorder and a friend as a witness and fired him. Then should have gone to the licensing department of the state, perhaps attorney general and reported what I documented about him. Hindsight is 20/20 and when you're weakened by stress lack of sleep, etc, as you are going through it, it's hard to make major changes in decisions like that. This is especially true when attorneys usually back each other, especially from the same county, and sometimes hard to find a backup plan of help in the middle of a case.

God is just and He is the presiding Judge.
He intervened on my behalf.

Just something else came to mind.
You said,

"Though he is not working on this case, he decided to mention it to me."

I missed that first read through. So this lawyer works in the firm but doesn't work on your case? I would document it and take it to whoever is your attorney. Share this challenge with them and ask them for answers, like Why did he say that? Why is he making inappropriate comments and spreading division. I hate it when strangers start trolling and divide friends. That even happens on this forum.
I would try to find out where your own attorney stands and if he's genuinely working hard on your case. I would think that the prosecuting attorney would be handling a rape case.

Any way this goes with the situation, please keep taking it to the Lord as often as necessary. I mentioned that He intervened on my behalf in spite of the many unspoken injustices, to encourage that He can do likewise for you. I can sympathize with you and pray for your healing. Nobody should go through that. At the end of 4 years of college I personally knew 12 women who were forcibly raped. They confided that to me and some to my Campus Christian ministry group. I worked on solutions from that time on.

There's a Victim Assistance Program in my state. Check to see if there's one in yours and read up on how it might help if your state has it too. Ours works out of the prosecutor's office. I'm learning that they might reimburse financial loss/ expenses that happened due to the crime. They need receipts and have to be approved.
I hope this helps.
The Lord knows what you have been through. He loves you and He can heal you too.
