1“I am the true vine, and My Father is the keeper of the vineyard. 2He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes to make it even more fruitful. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me.
5I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branches are gathered up, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, proving yourselves to be My disciples.

Matthew 7:15-17 (KJV)—Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

The things these false prophets say and do bear fruit. ….but is it good fruit or is it bad fruit? Does it follow the Truth of what Christ says? If it doesn’t, you better run as fast as you can in the opposite direction—they’re out to deceive you.

1 John 4:1 (KJV)—Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)—Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

According to the OT, a false prophet was also known to repeat the words of true prophets. So when people saw his/her fruits, they were good, but...that fruit wasn't theirs.
You might say false prophets were also fruit stealers. :)

It is impossible to steal good fruit from someone who isn't bearing good fruit . ;)
