Jesus said he was coming soon

So why has so much time elapsed? It has been centuries and no return.
I firmly believe Christ will do as He promised but why is it taking so long?
The world seems more than wicked and stupid enough to warrant the re-appearance for sure!

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

Perhaps the time hasn’t been so long if we consider how long eternity is—forEVER and EVER and EVER. . .

I still got a mother and brother who ain't even talking to God right now. I'm fine with Him waiting a bit longer.

I do wonder what the hold up is, considering the apostles thought he would be back 2000 years ago.
I do look forward to it, I do need to learn patience.

Yes I'm in a hurry. It's up to each person to be ready, we cannot help those who refuse God.

To the OP. I do not believe two days is a long time, that is, keeping in mind that with our Lord a day is as the thousand years and a thousand years is as a day.

Well... Feel free to ask God to take you now, if that's really what you want. Whatever works for you.

All Christians should have a longing for home. After all, we are merely sojourners here. Who of us doesn't desire to be borne away into the bosom of God to forever dwell in His presence. But if we are honest with ourselves, this is seldom our reasoning. Mostly we just want to escape the hardships in this life.
The Apostle Paul, I think, had the right idea. He had both a desire to be with God, and also a desire to stay to bring people together with God. In the end, he was able to say...I have finished my course; I have kept the faith. And not one of us is likely to suffer as he.
Perhaps the answer for us is found in maintaining our desire to go home and spend our time helping others get there as well.

Yeah, this separation from God bothers me too. A lot!
This came up in my Bible meeting today too.
I've learned that i have to have trust and faith because i can't find answers for everything. It's very difficult but that's how it gets me going from day to day.

One of the greatest afternoons that I've ever experienced in my short lifetime was with one of my great(est) aunts who had been bedridden for several years. She asked me the same question, "why is God waiting to take me home?" Without hesitation, I answered "to cheer up a nephew who has been grumpy for weeks". She laughed and told me that my visit made her day.

God took her home later that evening. During the next days I met many nieces and nephews with similar stories. I'm so glad that God allowed her the time to bless so many people. I know that I will never forget our afternoon together.

so many people think "soon" means now or a few minutes or a few days. not at all! "soon" means his appearance is quick or sudden. similar to "all of a sudden, He's there". lot's of people don't realize the OT was written in Hebrew & the NT written in Greek. the proper translation needs to be discerned.

Yeah, Paul felt the same way in the bible. It would be better to die and be in heaven than to live and be here... For his own sake. He said it was better that he stuck around for a while though, because he still had some stuff to do to help people.

Do you feel like there is nothing left for you to do to help someone else? Do you feel like you have learned every lesson you are supposed to learn in life? Do you feel like the only thing left to do is die?

God is all knowing.
When the last person that will be saved is saved, He will come.

Most people agree with this. The discussion is generally on when and what will take place.

Scripture states that He will come 1260 days after Israel is driven into the wilderness and the man of sin turns his wrath on the saints and makes war with them for the same 1260 days Israel is in the wilderness being nourished by God.
The seventh, last trump of God will sound, Jesus will come in the clouds, He will send the angels to gather the saints to Him in the clouds and we will return to the earth with Him. This is the first resurrection and will include all whose names are in the book of life.
He will cast the man of sin and the false prophet alive into the lake of fire and bound Satan for 1000 years in the pit.
He will then pour out the seven vials of God's wrath on those who worshiped the beast.
He will then rule the world from David"s throne for 1000 years and the Saints will rule with Him.
