I can see you have had enough of me and that's fine. I hope there are no hard feelings. None here. My heart would like to leave you with this. Please continue to look into water baptism (in the name of Jesus) with an open mind. Consider this, IF water baptism is how our sins are washed away (Acts 22:16) and how we are added to Christ (Acts 2:41, Gal. 3:27), don't you think Satan is going to do his best to pervert and do away with water baptism.
One can't be taught baptism wrong and be baptized right. In Acts 19 we see the truth of that. At the end of Acts 18 Apollos preaches Jesus accurately but he only knows John's baptism. Later, ch. 19, Paul meets some of these disciples and asks them did they receive the HS. When they tell him no, notice the question he asks. If the HS does the baptizing upon belief, Paul never would have asked this question.

Also, an example to consider about the power of water baptism. Did the water cleanse Naaman of his leprosy.
God Bless
Physical baptism cleansed a physical problem. Spiritual baptism cleanses spiritual problems.
Your problem before God isn't physical, but spiritual. Just as physical circumcision signified the circumcision of the heart, water baptism signifies our death and resurrection with Christ.
The basic principle is found in Romans 1...the unseen things of God are known by the things He has made.

It was your example...Naaman.
Oh ok. You are right. Sins are a spiritual problem. My point was if water baptism has the power to cure leprosy why can't water baptism wash away sins?
Acts 22:16 And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’

There is no power in a physical act except upon the physical world. It takes a spiritual act to produce a spiritual result. And that power only comes from God. There is no magic water.

Didn't Jesus perform a physical act of dying to cleanse us spiritually?

Because He is our representative He had to become like us. Romans 4:25...Who was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification. The resurrection was supernatural. Without it, dying wouldn't save us.
We have 2 problems. We have sinned and deserve punishment for that. But we also owe God the righteousness that should have been given to Him in place of our disobedience. By dying on the cross He paid for our sins. While He paid for them physically, He did so in a supernatural manner. A man can't pay for even his own sins even if he died 100 times. But Jesus death paid for the sins of the world. As well, His righteousness is supernaturally imputed to us. This isn't done to us, but for us. It's a spiritual activity. Also, no resurrection is done naturally. It takes place in the physical world, but through spiritual means.
So water baptism is a good way to wash the outside, but it won't cleanse the debris from your heart. That takes a supernatural cleansing. Forgiveness isn't for the body, but for the soul. And that's what takes place when someone gets saved. Water doesn't make you alive spiritually; it is the Spirit that quickens.

What verse/s would you use to support that?

I'm sorry but Jesus clearly instructed baptize the believers and after His sacrifice He said Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, Not Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved,

The apostle Paul after all he had done still had his sins and Ananias says And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’ Being baptized in the name of Jesus is calling on His name.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” - Romans 10:13
Being baptized in the name of Jesus is calling on His name.
...And has nothing to do with being dunked in a tub. Ritualistic baptism in water has nothing to do with receiving the Spirit. How they got tied together I shall never know.

How does one call upon the name of the Lord? If you could point to how in one of the conversions God has recorded for us that would be great.

And has nothing to do with being dunked in a tub. Ritualistic baptism in water has nothing to do with receiving the Spirit. How they got tied together I shall never know.
and Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. [/quote]

If I understand you correctly, I agree for the most part except the part about water baptism. Things we do in this physical world have direct consequences spiritually. For example, can we love spiritually only and not physically?

The opposite is what is actually true. Our spiritual estate influences what we do. We don't sin and then become sinful. We are sinful in our nature and so we sin. In other words, I'm not a thief because I steal. I steal because I am a thief.

I agree but we still must do physically or we truly do not love.
28 “What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’ 29 And he answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went. 30 And he went to the other son and said the same. And he answered, ‘I go, sir,’ but did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?”
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

Water baptism is HOW we die with Christ.
3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.

My point is, we do what we are. Everyone acts. Even Yoda knows this...do or do not. There is no try.

Water baptism is how we show that this has happened. It is one manner of confessing the Lord Jesus Christ.

My point is Paul says IF we we have been united with Him in a death like His. If is conditional. Buried in baptism is how we die with Christ. It is also how our sins are washed away.
And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’

If is conditional, but refers to something that either exists or doesn't. Either a person has been united to Him in His death or not. In Acts 2:37, the people who responded heard, were pricked, and asked what to do. That's the evidence that they were saved. Part of being saved is to be placed into the body of Christ. So the fact that they responded as the did meant they were identified by God as those who identify with Him in His death. By being baptized, they were confirming publicly this reality.
You seem only willing to acknowledge the work of God after salvation and ignore the work of in salvation.

[Act 9:17-18 KJV]
17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, [even] Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

Paul was baptized but baptized by the Holy Spirit.

[Act 9:17-18 KJV]

That verse doesn't specify when he received the HS. We do see the order in verse 17 of receive sight then HS. In 18 we see he received sight then arose and was baptized. The HS is given after baptism.
That's the order we see here.
And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

We see the same thing here.
And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’
Ananias asks him, why do YOU wait. There is something Paul still has yet to do. Then he says ARISE. Paul obviously can't do this without getting up. Then he says be baptized and wash away your sins. How can he wash away sins he doesn't have. When Paul was baptized he received the HS.

The bible tells us many things about baptism but public confirmation is not one of them. Only man says that.
