If you like, you can buy clothes that are already worn out, complete with holes. Sometimes I think evolution is true except we are going in reverse.
I dont think clothes were mentioned in the Bible that way, though it did give sewing advice, dont sew patches on old clothes you'll just make them worse.

You have to have holes in your clothes anyway, so you can put your head in

Ive heard it in the form of off hand comments from men, that a man must be real desperate if he went out with her.. etc.
went out with who? Most men are desperate to go out with anybody if they can afford to, otherwise, they happy to stay home and look after their mums

While I agree that makeup has its limits, and a point where it becomes too artificial, I think the common eye often doesn't know what's makeup and what isn't since it's become so normalized.

I find the most interesting beauty bloggers to be the ones who have problematic skin and aren't afraid to show the dramatic before and after images of what makeup can do. The "no-makeup makeup look" is a very popular trend with many women, and it's fascinating to see how dramatic and even life-altering natural makeup can be.

A group of about 6 of us CC'ers had a meetup last year, and the people there could see why I wear makeup. I have a long history of skin problems (acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema -- the dermatologist even said she doesn't think it's any particular thing, but a combination of all of them.) Many times it's due to things you can't control, even though others on the outside will just tell you to "just wash your face, stop eating junk food, and stop wearing makeup."

Sure, all those things can make it worse. But when you've tried to eliminate as many outside factors as you can, some of us are just not born with socially acceptable skin (and nowadays especially, you really don't want to look like you have something contagious, even when it's not.) For example, many people with psoriasis are mistakenly seen as having leprosy or some other dangerous skin disease, and are treated accordingly in public.

The people at this meetup group got to see my natural skin in the evenings, and there is a stark difference (even when I'm having just a minor flare-up.) I'm just thankful that I seem to have found the right products to allow me to pass as somewhat normal during the day. I've even had a few people say, "I really like that you don't wear makeup," which to me, is the ultimate compliment, because they obviously can't tell. I don't go outside without it, but when I'm at home and not going anywhere, I don't wear it, to give my skin a break.

I've always had a heart for people with skin issues, and pray for the ones I see on YouTube regularly, because I know how painful and embarrassing it can be.

I've also always harbored a secret dream of studying to be a makeup artist who specializes in helping people with skin problems... Maybe someday.
Do you have any friends who have neurofibromatosis?

Acne is common, I still get acne if Im stressed. Stress pimple I call it.

A lot of people have birthmarks or moles, and thats not something they can help or disguise. They havent been beaten up or been landed on by flies. They just born that way.

in nz, and esp australia, if you dont go out without sunscreen and you are pale, the UV rays will get you and burn you to a crisp. If you are darker skinned you already have a tan, you dont need to go to a tanning salon and turn orange which is what some people do.

I think in the end people give up and get the next best thing, a tattoo, to turn their skin all different colours. I just wear clothes for colour.

I guess people think the ideal is baby skin but evens babies skin can have nasty nappy rash.

In the end the only thing that is supposed to be white is your bones or teeth.
Jesus said Pharisees were whitewashed tombs, so he wasnt that much of a fan of outward appearance.

Not sure if the focus is meant to be on clothing or skin, but in brides many men arent looking at faces. They are mostly looking at boob size in women. Hence boob jobs. Or bum size.

Fair hair seems prized over skin, skin isnt that important it seems, though women need to take extra care over skin because our bodies are more delicate I suppose and we are supposed to be less hairy than men though Im not sure if thats true of all women. I think it depends on what climate you live in whether you need so much fat layers or hair, or melanin.

Eli, what are you doing? Are you sponsoring my thread.

Anyway I was thinking on skin as I was juicing tangelos today. They all pretty much had spots on them though they were mostly smooth and not wrinkled. However it isnt the skin that matters on citrus (unless you usng them for zest) but the juice inside. Most all of them were juicy, though I threw away any that had worms or holes and ants eating them.

Some fruits are deliberately wrinkled and it means they are even more juicy and tart like passionfruit. I guess if you are painting a picture, maybe you need perfect looking fruit but they no good if they rotten inside. I guess you dont really know till you cut them open.

Wrinkled grapes are raisins, but people still eat them.

Apparently in Japan young women are cutting their hair short to protest about beauty standards being too high. They ought to put dots on their faces too.

As for wrinkles shar pei puppies have shown that wrinkles can be cute.

I was thinking on long hair how what a hassle and pain it is to have. The women I know who kept their hair very long were usually very tall women who could handle having their hair long, but there were some who kept them dependent and they couldnt do as much with it but sort of used it as a flirting device.

Long hair also sheds more and your bathroom sink hole needs to be unplugged and cleaned out a lot.
While long hair is impressive I think there is such a thing as too long but then it will get you into the Guiness Book of world records if you dont cut it, like the man with the longest fingernails.

Combing long hair also takes forever.

I am growing my hair long lol

to protest beauty standards being too low. Mum used to cut mine into bowl shape when I was a child except she didnt use a bowl.

However, split ends are now a problem, but the solution seems to be...stick them together with glue. By the time Ive sorted my hair out, and looked almost presentable several hours have gone by and I just know I will never make it to church on time.

Caved and got my hair cut, now its middle length

I was going to go in for keratin heat treatment but that cost like $120 and I dont have a job so I have no money. BUT I can slather coconut oil on it myself. Just have to make sure it doesnt ruin the pillow cases.

I am not sure what keratin is, but some beauty advisors say to put eggs in your hair. I dont think that would be very good on a hot day.

I also put glue on my face. It said it was a mask with charcoal but they didnt say on the packet that it was actually glue in tiny tiny print on the ingredients list was polyvinyl chloride ie PVC.

The girls at school, used to use my sellotape to make themselves fake nails and tape their faces up for a temporary face lift.

I tried that egg in my hair thing when I was a teenager and my mother scolded me for a week afterwards. Fille stupide! Eggs were expensive…
