why is Columbus day still in a national holiday?

Yes, we must wipe out all vestiges of anything that sniffs of WASP and lift high the alternative pagan cultures. ROFL

in·dig·e·nous

inˈdijənəs/

adjective

originating or occurring naturally in a particular place; native.

"the indigenous peoples of Siberia"

The term is good for evolutionists, not creationists, since the only place man originated from was the Garden, all else are occupiers of God's earth.
Stop being ridiculous. Indigenous just means that they were here first before settlers came and stole the land from them. Don't turn this into something its not. They were murdered, raped, tortured. If you can't see why this deserves recognition then you have no integrity

If Columbus didn’t discover America, we’d all be speaking German right now.

Oh, so that is why we are all speaking Italian right now.

It has been long since proven that Columbus did not discover America. He landed in the Caribbean islands where he tortured and murdered over 3 million people. He also enslaved them for gold. Columbus was a horrible human being and the fact that we still celebrate him speaks volumes about the moral fabric of our nation.
So if we are to celebrate the discovery of the New World, and more specifically the US what day would you suggest?

The day should be very vague and very random. We don‘t want to know the specifics of how we got here.
It should almost be a myth. A legend.

Well it should also be a Monday so that we can get a three day weekend. Also it should come before thanksgiving as it wouldn't make sense to come after that. Perhaps we should celebrate the day the pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock. Yes, thank you Dude653, let's get a petition up to make the landing on Plymouth Rock a national holiday to celebrate.

I think the exact date should be a whole month or a whole season, like three months or more.

From June to November we celebrate Columbus’ Day. We could also make it the whole year, I don‘t see anything wrong with that.

Any patriotic Holiday wrangles the nerves of the libs. They have a hard time with a place called America.
What's patriotic about celebrating a lie? Columbus did not discover America also he and his men murdered like 3 million people in the Caribbean islands

Americans love any excuse to have a holiday! Think Cinco de Mayo Day, lol!

I don't think anyone tops Greece for holidays. Half of the year is holidays and the other half is sleeping late in the morning.

Columbus day is big in South Dakota, however, it is "indigenous American" day, a holiday for the native Americans, why would anyone want to keep Native Americans from having their holiday?

Your words are perfect in proving my point, plus your cape is quite appropriate for the occasion.

What point did you have exactly? Christopher Columbus did not discover America and what's patriotic about celebrating genocide?
Also they enslaved the Caribbean people and made them mine gold. Those who didn't produce enough gold had their hands chopped off.
Christopher Columbus was a monster and should not be celebrated. It may as well be Hitler day
