Both sides are kind of confusing! How about both sides post about their own accounts of how they got saved? How did any of you become saved? What was it that convinced you that you are saved?
My conversion was Profound and Instant -----

I was a person who was very negative and who presented an attitude of Don't come near me or I will bite you ------I never believed in Ghosts or Spirits really ------I did believe there was a God and was made to go to Church until I was about 16 when I stopped going ------I got married to a Military man and had 1 son and moved into Provincial Married Quarters ----- after moving in --My husband had to go South for 6 months ------during that time he was away ---strange things starting happening in the house ------Doors would open and close by themselves -----my phone would ring and no one was there in all hours of the day and night ----my lights would go on and off ----I had Triangular lights that appeared all over my living room ceiling ---and there were loud snapping sounds at times in the house like someone was snapping a whip ------I had a couple of night terror instances where I woke up because it felt like someone was over top of me with a sword and was going to stab me with it ------also I would wake up to a glowing red light covering my closet door -------

My son was getting scared to as his door in his bedroom would open and close all by itself -----so I called my cousin who had experiences in her house with things flying off her shelves at times -----to see what she had to say ----she told me I needed to see Minister or Priest and talk to them ------So I called the Padre on the Base and was scared he would call to have me committed but went to see him anyway -------He was very receptive when I told him what was going on -----he said he has went to see a woman who sai she was Spiritually raped ------

He ask me if I had seances in the house ---if I had Buddha in the house ---If I played with ouija boards ---if I dealt with Tarot cards or fortunate tellers ---and if I practiced Yoga ---I said no to all -----he said well someone before you was in the occult ----said he would have to do an exorcism through the house -----he came and did that and told me not to look at or pay attention to the triangular lights in the ceiling if they were still present -----But all activity Stopped after he went through the house -----and there were no lights on the ceiling ------

He and his wife took me under their wing and gave me a Bible and I started reading it and spent some time in prayer with them over the next couple of weeks and ---Received Jesus in my Heart and immediately I felt like a veil was lifted from my eyes as I saw things differently ----my attitude did a complete 180 turn I felt a peace and lightness cove over my whole being--- it was amazing ----I felt so different ----my husband noticed the change right way and my family was totally blown away with the change in my character and attitude as were my close friends ---I even had people approach me which never happened before -----

The Padre and his wife both spoke in tongues and the padre told me he and his wife wanted me to have this gift ----so they took me to the Church and anointed with with oil and prayed over me to have this gift -----I didn't experience anything right away ---it was about a week after they prayed with me ----- when my husband and I were taking our son to see the Star Wars movie ----when I went to get in the car --i experienced a weird thing ---it was if someone was pulling on my coat and a voice said to me ----You Can't Go ---I said to my husband I can't go -----so he went with my Son and i went in the house -----and after a few minutes --I had this urge to pray and got on my knees and just started praying and all of a sudden I started speaking an another language ------it was pouring out of my center area without effort --

So needless to say I believe very strongly now in evil spirits ----and how they can infiltrate your home --:)

Read carefully: (Matthew 18:3-5) "And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

You guys are trying hard to deflect this issue to salvage the "No works" doctrine. Truth is, Jesus is saying, except you do something, you will not enter into the kingdom of God. Humble yourselves like a child and be converted, then you will enter into the kingdom of God. Fail to humble yourselves like a little child, then you will not enter in. Plain and simple. There's no need to play semantics.
Nope.. It's the accurate reading of the Word of God that defeats the works salvation preachers who are leading people away from the grace of God and thus into the eternal lake of fire... Your works salvation preaching is leading you into eternal damnation.. Anyone who accepts your deception unto their deaths will be joining you in crying LORD LORD on the day of judgement...

Matthew 7 {22} Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?"

You can boast on that day about your wonderful work of humbling yourself and all your other works to try to self justify your entry into Gods eternal perfect existence, But it will not work..

This makes no sense and out of context. Jesus says in His Holy Word that there are things for us to do for Salvation.

The Words of Christ Jesus to Paul? His Grace + our faith?:

Part of your 'signature'?:

Eph 2:5 :Even when we were dead in sins, hath
quickened us together with Christ, ( By Grace ye are saved )
Eph 2:8 For By Grace are ye saved through faith

Simplicity In/With Christ, eh?

Amen.

Yes he did

come to him
Trust him
Recieve his gift.

if you do this, you will never perish, and you have eternal life.

there was 613 laws, the LAW, 10 Commandments.
Jews, were to OBEY these no matter what.
how is Obedience to a Direct Command a "WORKS?"

being Humble, is a Command.
you are not trying to be Humble, you are being Humble.
a WORK, is a Process.
but a fulfillment of a Command is not working at all but Obeying, Following Orders.

you cannot follow the ORDERS of someone else and classify it a WORK. Didn't You Volunteer, by Free Will, to Obey and Follow God?
well then, that's ALL you're doing, it is by your will becoming God's, you will, Obey His Command.

not a single ""WORK"" involved.

where, and how can i obtain a humble heart?

does every good and perfect gift come down from the Father?
Fruits of the Spirit which we obtain when we yield ourselves to the Spirit (which we receive at salvation.)

What? Jesus said there was something for a person to do, i.e., a work, to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Yes, we are to do our part, but be careful what label you slap on it. We are to yield ourselves to Him. He will guide us unto good works. I know this sounds picky, but BDF is a picky place. ;)

Ephesians 2:10
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

a work is what you do to earn a wage, a reward.

You can boast of your works. because when you receive the wage or reward. you earned it.

not of works lest anyone should boast. (eph 2)

Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. (rom 4)

and that is why the going shopping and seeing the NEEDY fits perfectly here.

it is true, i do go to places, God, gives me the feeling/urgency/idea to do something and i do my best to do it.
if it remains at listening and hearing God to Obeying God, you are GOOD.
it's the times you go to places, God, [[[DOES NOT]]] tell you to do something, BUT, you do something anyways.
now, it's a Good Thing You did.
but, YOU did it.
and that presents room to boast proudly...unfortunately.

but as long as it is Hearing God and doing, then it is ALWAYS God doing the WORKS.
and that is very important.
Our Treasures are stored up in doing what God tells us so HIS WORK gets done.
doing it out of our own good will is also important, but, it ain't about God.
and no one ever thinks like that.
they apply what they do as if God told them to do it.
God, only tells you so many times, out of hundreds, when you go somewhere to do something for someone else.
so, every other time, is just YOU, trying to do works, which is equal to filthy rags.

I think it should be mentioned that Christians do works to:

1) Please God as part of their living with and for God. We have the Holy Spirit as the seal over us that we belong to God. The Holy Spirit causes us to do good works for Him, so a Christian doing good works is inevitable.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

2) Earn rewards and ranks from God, but not salvation of course - He already did that.

Our salvation is not of works, lest any man should boast. To me this means I can do nothing on my own to OBTAIN salvation.
However, we've been created unto good works in Christ. Jesus says every branch in Me that doesn't bring forth fruit is cast into the fire & burned.
Therefore, our workless salvation REQUIRES good works as evidence(fruit) of that workless salvation.
It's just a matter of getting our ducks in a row, see?:)

we must be careful

we can not say we are saved by grace and not works (by the spirit) then say this salvation must be kept by works (the flesh) or else it will be lost.

because in the end, it essentially says we are saved by faith through works (grace is removed from the equation)

John 15:1“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.

This passage speaks of bearing fruit. Not getting saved.

You can;pt claim we are saved by grace, then claim we have to work to keep it.

Paul calls you a fool if you think this.. Just like the galation church did

yes, my dear friend oyster. :)

to quote Steven Curtis Chapman, "if the truth was known you'd see, that the only good in me is Jesus" ♪♪
