Hello all,
I'm new here - this site was recommended by a friend who met his future wife here. :)

I'm a single, 46F, never married, no children. I live in Ottawa, ON Canada which is where I was born. I've traveled to Europe, and also to various places in the US, as well as within Canada. I attend a Confessional Lutheran Church which I greatly appreciate, having come from a non-denominational church as a child. I love to study the bible, apologetics, camping, hiking, and also have a great job with the federal government.

Hoping to meet some folks here, maybe make some friends and meet someone special, because I would love to do life with someone. :) Hope this is a decent introduction!

Best,
Oranjlie

Hello and welcome to our fellowship here at Christian Chat. Look through the forums to find an interesting thread then join in on the discussion. There are many nice members here so you should soon have many new friends.

When growing up, my grandparents lived in eastern Michigan. When returning home we always visited the Georgian Bay area. So very beautiful. BC and AB are also beautiful.

May our Heavenly Father bless you and your time with us. :)

Good introduction. Welcome Orangie, although Ottawa is the last place any Canadian should be living in. Just kidding. If it is your home, then that settles it.

Hello and welcome, dear sister. I am an old hermit who is satisfied to live with just Jesus and Amelia my cat. :geek:
Your intro was excellent. :) Lots of singles here, but just look twice before you leap. Solitude is precious. Don't give it up for just anyone.

What led you to move from non-denom to Lutheran? I joined the Mennonites just because they were nearby, but am really non-denom at heart. I believe denominations divide God's Body in an unnatural way.

God Bless you and Godspeed, dear sister Oranjlie. :)(y):coffee:

Thank you! I appreciate the welcome. :)
I shifted from a non-denomenational church to the confessional lutheran church because I found that I wanted more scripture, found that the lutheran liturgy focuses on Christ more rather on being seeker-sensitive or emotional or dramatic. I've gone to many different types of churches - catholic, baptist, pentecostal, alliance, and also went to bible school in Alberta for two years and lived on campus while I completed my studies. I guess the lutheran approach works best for me. :)

Amelia - what a great name for a cat! Tell me a bit about her? I also have a cat, Oliver. (Picture attached). His nemesis is my little dog Odin (aka "Lord of Frenzy" lol). Odin is basically Toto from the Wizard of Oz, only he's black.

Sounds a little bit like why I stayed with the Mennonites. I am more interested in the Bible than Church programs and activities. My only regret is that their odd traditions and heritage makes it difficult for outsiders to come in from different backgrounds than theirs. They still slip up and call me an "outsider" sometimes, even though I have been a member for 20+ years. I want others to see me as a Christian and that alone. There will be no cultural or denominal barriers in Heaven. That thought and fact brings me much joy. :)

So glad you asked. She is God's little gift to me. She is sitting next to me right now and is purring loudly. She is just glad to be here. My niece found her abandoned and hungry out in the woods on a cold winter day several years ago. She was happy to be found. At first, she was a quite cat, but now she is very talkative and possessive of me. She does not look kindly at things that vi for my attention. If I let her, she will get on my keyboard and stomp on it. Not sure how she would react if I brought in a little dog. Probably another nemesis situation. :devilish:

Glad you are an animal person. Always a safe topic of conversation. Wouldn't it be nice if people were as easy to get along with as pets? Maybe it will be like that in Heaven. Tell Oliver and Odin I said "hello". :)

God bless you and Godspeed, dear sister!

Looks like it worked! Congratulations! :D (It often takes several hours for new threads to be approved, but responding within them is much quicker.)
