It is allmade clear in the verse of Isaiah 9:6. I T usually cut and paste it, but it is easy to look up, andeasier to read.

It can be confusing as you stop and think wait, Jesus is God, yet God is God.. two gods? Bible says one God?

Its hard to explain, but easy to believe. You and I are different persons, but we have the same nature "man" so we are part of the one mankind. The Father and the Son share the divine nature together. For that reason both can be called God.

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John was a monotheistic jew, he wouldn't have penned that down if it would be a polytheistic statement.

Jesus claimed to give eternal life to whoever believes in Him.

Jesus has power over sin.

Jesus claimed equality with God the Father.

Jesus rose from the grave and accepts worship.

Jesus was called 'immanuel'. Meaning 'God with us'

Jesus saw Phillip before Phillip saw Him in person.

The OT prophets speak of Jesus.

I could go on.

Why do we christians say Jesus is God himself?
2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ
(MY NOTE: The great God and our Savior Jesus Christ!)

Rom 9:5 To them belong the patriarchs, & from their race, according to the flesh, is the "Christ who is God over all" blessed forever
(MY NOTE: Christ who is God over all)

Jn 20:28 Thomas answered Jesus and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
(MY NOTE: Tomas calls Jesus His: Lord & his God)

Jn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(MY NOTE: Jesus is the word: see Rev 19:13)

Jn 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
(MY NOTE: God/Jesus was manifest in the flesh)

1 Tim 3:And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
(MY NOTE: God/Jesus was manifest in the flesh)

Matt 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
(MY NOTE: A virgin/MARY shall bring forth a son & they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.)

Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
(MY NOTE: In Jesus Christ dwells the fulness of the Godhead/Father-Son/Jesus/Holy Spirit)

Because He was, is and always will be per the Word! In addition to John chapter1 . A passage that was recently pointed at in one of my Pastors sermons recently to show Jesus as God is this set of verses paying attention to the highlight/boldened statement.

“and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior,”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“To Titus, my true son in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Why do we christians say Jesus is God himself?
Because that is exactly what the Bible reveals. You can either believe God or disbelieve Him.

There's no need to be disrespectful. I had to search this out for myself early in my journey. Not everyone has the benefit of good discipleship.

Why do we christians say Jesus is God himself?
Welcome to CC!

There are many verses that say so fairly directly; some of them have been posted already. Also, the sum total of the teaching of Scripture is that Jesus is Himself God.

Here is a straightforward logical argument directly from Scripture:

Rev. 1:17b-18a "I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever!"

Revelation 2:8 "These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again."

These verses connect "the First and the Last" with descriptions that can only refer to Jesus.

Isaiah 44:6 “This is what the Lord says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God."

Rev. 22:13 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."

Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

I would encourage you to keep searching until you are absolutely convinced. :)

Why do we christians say Jesus is God himself?
This was a Question ask ---without any explanation as to why this person is asking this question ---who did this person think Jesus was ----just a man --Prophet ---what is this person's personal understanding of who Jesus was -and is ----

So this is a genuine Question I ask here below -----as far as I am concerned ------

Can you explain why You don't understand that Jesus is God Himself ??????

Your quote here ----

There's no need to be disrespectful. Not everyone has the benefit of good discipleship.
You can see my Question any way you like it matters not to me personally ----and I agree that not everyone understands Scripture ---but until this person gives us his understanding of how they see Jesus ---just quoting reams of Scripture is futile -----as this person seems to have no understanding of the scripture in the first place ------or they wouldn't be asking the Question ---Period -----

So Dino246 quoting Scripture like this---your quote here

Here is a straightforward logical argument directly from Scripture:

Rev. 1:17b-18a "I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever!"

I say ------Is futile ----as this person is not going to connect that to Jesus as God ------in my view anyway ----this person can read Scripture I am sure ---understanding it is the problem -----so knowing who Jesus is to this person is needed to understand how to give the right answer ------

So that is how I see that

It’s simple for me, after the little bit of studying I’ve done, I believe there was a dude named Jesus….. I believe in Him…. and He said He was God.. that’s enough for me.

.
Jesus' origin can be easily traced to David, and from thence easily to Adam.
In other words: the Word of John 1:1-3 created his own human existence.

Ergo: when the Word of John 1:1-3 came into the world as the flesh of John
1:14, he didn't come in the likeness of divine flesh, rather, in the likeness of
sinful flesh. (Rom 8:3 & Heb 2:16-17)

Why do we christians say Jesus is God himself?
The problem is that the full titles aren't being used.

God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each can also be called God on their own.

So there is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is God, but Jesus is not God the Father because Jesus is God the Son.
