Here is an exercise in personal revelation. Start adding up the salaries ofcongressmen, senators, the cabinet of the president and jsut about every politician from aldermaen to mayors. It is scandelous. And many politicians collect ridicullous amounts of oney for being assign ed to study groups along with theother memberschosen for thesame.
"Add up the cost for space projects, weapons manufacturing and so muchmore.

I recall in thelate 1960's how a scandal was inprogressafter itwasfounf that thePntaagonwas paying $10,000000 for a screw. Thinkhow much it was for allof theparts, whatever that project wa....
That screw was 10,000.00!

My contribution here is relating that tax monies are given by allof thepeople. Then many mistakenly call the collection the government's money, however it is the wealth of all tax-payers, all of us.
These people should have active participation in the spending of that wealth for itisnot the government that is wealthy, it isthepeople's money.
If ridicule is your response,I am afraid you may be in league with the wrong players inthis activity.

Why do you think so many people don't want to work now? Is it laziness?

To be clear my husband and I do work, but his job changed after covid. He use to be gone 12 hours a day and now he's part time with a side job and can pick hours. I also have a work from home job.

In our case we did it for childcare. Back in the 90s as a kid I would be in school and then grandparents from 8 am to 5 pm everyday. My husband was the same 4 am to 3 pm at grandparents everyday. We have a theory that humans can only work for so long. Like boomers don't want to help with grandkids bc they worked all their lives. In any case between childcare closing for the week, not having enough workers, school going virtual and counting as a day. There was even a day they sent them home early for an emergency and gave an hour notice. It's craziness. It would be impossible. In any case I know people where at least 1 parent decides to stay home for that reason. They still "work." But to the outside world they would think it's a stay at home parent.
in America, the answer goes way back in time. it's been to easy in America to get anything. the government goes against 2nd Thessalonians 3:10-....if anyone will not work, neither should he eat.... also, for too long crime was & is not punished properly. free entitlements are thru the roof!!! even though laws are stricter on receiving benefits, there are still ways around it. you can lie your way thru the tests, be totally normal & live off the government. partly because of politicians being greedy thru the desire of riches. & since biden became the phantom president, it's even worse. how ignorant is this: you could claim to be an alcoholic & not be able to work but get free rent & assistance? America has performed very poorly in government for over a century. thesis the answer on laziness in America.

Some of us boomers are still working... comfortably past full retirement age... and my wife takes care of our 11 yr old grandaughter while her mother is at work. She kept her all summer, and now still drives about 30 miles round trip at least once a week to pick her up after school...

Lazy? Ripped off? Something else?

To put this chart into perspective, out of $156 Trillion Dollars in US Assets, those younger than 43, which make up 50.7 % of the US population, own a mere 13 Trillion of the total assets.

As far as I understand, no graph is going to excuse the wealth of any country as not being of all of thepeople. As far as percentage of contributions go, it works out to eventually belong to all of the people, kind of a family affair I should say.

The "wealth" of the country is of all the people, only as much as the government allows.
The government "takes" money from mostly the middle class and the wealthy, then distributes it as it desires. The "people" have no more say in it than what their so-called "representatives" say. And when you have a majority of representatives that are very bad managers of that money, then the money is no longer "all the people's money". It goes where the wealthy, elitist "representatives" say it will go.

The system was set up to work for the good of all, but it is broken. It hasn't worked that way for a long time.

What do you mean “receive” social security?

We paid untold THOUSANDS, forcefully taken out of our paychecks for at least 4 decades.

I would have gladly said no if given a choice.

I’m a boomer who just turned 60, not 70, Certainly not 80. The oldest boomers are 77, the youngest 59.

And talk about being spoiled rotten. Millennials and Gen. zers are off the charts.
pensions get paid to people over 65 no matter whether still working or not in nz.

This was done so they could retire and as a reward for living past that age.

I think its a good thing for them to have but like anything it may be taken away in the future and now we have kiwisaver, which you CAN actually opt in or out of. You can only access this after turning sixtyfive or to buy your first home.

the thousands people pay in tax actually is meant to go toward free schools, hospitals, roading, rubbish collection, postal service, broadcasting, clean running water etc.

If you paid no tax then you would have to pay for everything that you may have been offered for free by simply being a citizen.

Its just when tax collectors abuse this by keeping back money or overcharging that it call comes undone.
I dont agree with tax on fresh produce though thats just stupid. Jesus also had a dim view of moneylenders and fraudulent tax collectors, though he made an honest man out of Zaccheus.

Matthew was also a former tax collector.
