Different times, different situation. If the people born today were born then, they'd probably have worked just as hard, also. These days, inflation, high taxes, government handouts to almost everyone but workers, discrimination against Christians, discrimination against those best-skilled for the jobs, low morale due to a decadent and corrupt society, etc. makes (government-recognised and taxed) work something to be avoided, if possible.

Rich men north of Richmond (mostly democrats) destroyed the world.

Here is a thought that many totally overlook.

No government in the world is wealthy for the monies they allocate for various reasons is the wealth of its people, that is money exacted from the individuals of their populace.
All taxed wealth is truly the wealth of the people, the government politicians simply take what they are able to take as their salaries, not deserved in their total.
No, I am not a communist, but this is a very basic truth overlooked by people everywhere. It is your money not theirs.

I'd argue who controls the money is who owns it. The people certainly don't control where their taxes go, or the taxes wouldn't be wasted as they are.

you could say, elect better representatives. but, you know, even if they're better when they are elected, something seems to happen afterward that makes them worse. :(

i live in NYS and don't have a single person in the Congress who actually represents me.

In all fairness, and coming up on 80 myself, I have never though any generation has had it over or under another. The accusation of boomers and the lauding of other generations seem very petty to me.

For decades I have had a broken heart for the legacy being left behind for the coming generations, which right now seem to be coming to an end.

God bless all generations with His Light, amen.

Also the little problem of vote fraud. In truth, I don't think there have been honest elections for decades. That's the US. Most other countries are probably even worse. The safest option is to have 0 taxes, and then corrupt politicians can't waste them (or use them to start wars, or to buy propaganda to keep themselves in power).

Yes I’m a baby boomer.
Yes I worked hard.
Basically had that example in my parents.
Dad said, No “Hire Purchase”
No money = Go without
Did I do that, yes.
My children, same.
To God be the Glory.

aren't our kiddos millennials? i quite like mine lol
I don't know what generation designation my 4 kids would be in, but I love them all and I think they turned out pretty well. Every generation has good and bad, insofar as humanity can trend towards good.

Mine are Gen zers. Love ‘‘em to pieces!

Just speaking in generalities.

But Boomer parents definitely share in the blame, as they spared the rod all day long.

Oh good. I was so hoping this would become a "rant about government and complain about everybody else" thread. We certainly need more of those.

So... What yall are saying is that taxation is theft?
No.
Any organized society requires taxes in some form.

However when the lion's share of EVERYONE'S wages goes to the Government....it's time for a change. A Massive overhaul.

We fought for independence from England over less.

Here is an exercise in personal revelation. Start adding up the salaries ofcongressmen, senators, the cabinet of the president and jsut about every politician from aldermaen to mayors. It is scandelous. And many politicians collect ridicullous amounts of oney for being assign ed to study groups along with theother memberschosen for thesame.
"Add up the cost for space projects, weapons manufacturing and so muchmore.

I recall in thelate 1960's how a scandal was inprogressafter itwasfounf that thePntaagonwas paying $10,000000 for a screw. Thinkhow much it was for allof theparts, whatever that project wa....
