Pharisees thought they understood the scriptures too. Just sayin'.
Yeah....
Jesus kept admonishing them to understand "I desire mercy over sacrifice ".

Meaning mercy (AKA :attitudes) is much more important than solely outward appearances. There's all kinds of hypocrites out there.

And the original "hypocrites" ?

Theater was a Greek creation. The Jews thought that attending a play was one of the most sinful things a Jewish person could do. They weren't supposed to even let their shadow ever be cast on the theater. But the entomology of the Latin word "hypocrite" stems from the name of the professional actors on the stage from the theater.

It was kinda harsh....
Jesus was never going to make "Rabbi of the Year" when He kept slamming the judges of the contest. Nevermind the cussing from some of his rants.

Sounds like it was pretty close not two thousand years in the future.
Here is more of the passage for context:

Revelation 6:12-17, "And I looked when He opened the sixth seal and saw a great earthquake came to be. And the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood. And the stars of the heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its unripe figs, being shaken by a strong wind. And heaven departed like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. And the sovereigns of the earth, and the great ones, and the rich ones, and the commanders, and the mighty, and every slave and every free one, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us Hos 10:8 from the face of Him sitting on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, because the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

actors indeed, just as you said the origin of the word...actors. i see most if not all of the mega preaches being the same, living in 20 million dollar mansions with prvate jets.... its crazy.

you know the pharisees even had certian things they could "swear" on that they said "dont count" so they could literally give their "word" and to them it did not have to be honored...

I see why Yahshua called the white washed graves...

If you bought a slave to work for you....

What would you have them do?
They are property....you are responsible for everything they do. They cannot sustain themselves by their own actions....they are a slave. Meaning that if you freed them it's an automatic death sentence for this slave.

So....how much work would you have them do?
What kind of rest do you let them have?
How clean would your floors be?
Carpets?

Would the trash cans fill up?
Lawn mowing? Gardening? Weed pulling?
Laundry? Wrinkled shirts are now a thing of the past if you don't want them to be.

Being one of God's slaves is a choice....you either are or you aren't. You either believe in it or not. Just standing around to watch God's slaves work is not the same as being one. God doesn't need your advice.

Just saying....

Matthew 9:13 ~ I desire mercy, not sacrifice.

Don't prove yourself to be Biblically illiterate....let them just think that you might be.

Ad hominen, sad.

Perhaps you should trust the words of Jesus.
"This generation..."
"Behold I come quickly"
Soon"
"You shall not finish going through the cities of Israel, until the Son of Man comes." (Matt. 10:23)
“…to show to His bond-servants the things which must shortly take place.”

On ignore.

I know that was to someone else but I assume you mean Mat 24?

"24:34, "“Truly, I say to you, this generation shall by no means pass away until all this takes place."

he does not mean the generation He is speaking to, I can prove this from that verse: "until all this takes place"

He is talking about the generation that sees all of the things he describes, everything he said was not complete.

He also talked about His second coming, which is detailed in Daniyl and Revelation, neither have been completed yet...

"24:27, "“For as the lightning comes from the east and shines to the west, so also shall the coming of the Son of Aḏam be.

"24:28, "“For wherever the dead body is, there the vulturesd shall be gathered together. Footnote: dLuk 17:37.

"24:29, "“And immediately after the distresse of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven,f Isa 13:10; Isa 24:23, Eze 32:7-8, Joe 2:10, Joe 2:31, Joe 3:15 and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.g Hag 2:6, Hag 2:21 Footnotes: eOr pressure. fAlso see Amo 5:20, Amo 8:9. gAlso see Isa 34:4.

"24:30, "“And then the sign of the Son of Aḏam shall appear in the heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, Zec 12:10, Zec 12:14 and they shall see the Son of Aḏam coming on the clouds Dan 7:13 of the heaven with power and much esteem.h Footnote: hAlso see Dan 7:14.

"24:31, "“And He shall send His messengers with a great sound of a trumpet, Isa 27:13 and they shall gather together His chosen ones from the four winds, Dan 7:2 from one end of the heavens to the other. Deu 4:32.
