Christ never changed anything of the commandments, bur there was a change, it changed the commandments given through the flesh to those commandments given through the spirit of the Lord.[/QUOTE]Since "the flesh" is the sin nature, God's commandments could not be given "through the flesh". Indeed God came down to Mount Sinai in a terrifying display of His holiness and power in order to give His commandments. Had you been there you would have feared and trembled, and even tried to run away. Mount Sinai was literally on fire, while there was a black tempest swirling about that sacred mount. Angels were also present at that time.
HEBREWS 12: GOD COMES PERONALLY TO MOUNT SINAI
18 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:
20 For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:
21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:
If Moses himself was terrified, imagine the ordinary Israelite. It is in view of this that Christians should understand what Christ accomplished at the cross. There is too much light talk about God's commandments.
