Recently I've been trying to find more verses about how God sees our hearts and not our outer appearance. The only single verse I could find is 1 Samuel 16:7b: "For the Lord does not see as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." - NKJV

It's a great verse, but I was hoping to find more like this and could not. Can anyone help me with more verses on this topic? I did a quick online search, Blue Letter Bible, etc...but it kept leading me to 1 Sam 16:7 only. If that's the ONLY verse about this, I'll be ok with it, I was just hoping to find more.

Other verses don't have to be word for word, just the similar idea/concept about how God sees us, compared to how humans see people in such a shallow superficial way.

Jeremiah 20:12
Yet, O Lord of hosts, You who test the righteous,
Who see the mind and the heart;
Let me see Your vengeance on them;
For to You I have set forth my cause.

Matthew 22:18
But Jesus perceived their malice, and said,
“Why are you testing Me, you hypocrites?"

Matthew 9:4
But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said,
“Why do you think evil in your hearts?"

Mark 2:8
Immediately Jesus, aware in His spirit that they were reasoning that way within
themselves, said to them,
“Why are you reasoning about these things in your hearts?

Luke 6:8
But He knew what they were thinking, and He said to the man with the
withered hand,
“Get up and come forward!” And he got up and came forward.

Luke 11:17
But He knew their thoughts and said to them,
“Any kingdom divided
against itself is laid waste; and a house divided against itself falls."

Luke 16:15
And He said to them,
“You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows
your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God."

John 2:24-25
But Jesus did not entrust Himself to them, for He knew them all. He did
not need any testimony about man, for He knew what was in a man.

Acts 15:8
And God, who knows the heart, testified to them giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us;

1 Samuel 16:7b - God looks at the heart

Jeremiah 17:9-10
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? “I the Lord search
the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”

Revelation 2:23
And I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am he who
searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works.

Genesis 6:5
The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and
that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Proverbs 21:2
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.

Psalm 44:21
Would not God discover this? For he knows the secrets of the heart.

2 Chronicles 16:9...For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him.

1 Chronicles 28:9

"And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever."

Romans 8:27

"And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."

What should be totally ASTOUNDING to anyone is the fact that ALL human "hearts" are visible to the Lord God Almighty! That in itself is an amazing fact. How can it be possible? Yet it is definitely so.

The "heart" in Scripture is an appropriate metaphor for the innermost being -- the soul and spirit -- not the organ of the circulatory system. And every evil (and good thing) proceeds from "the heart". Yet the human heart has been designed perfectly to do its job. Another evidence that it is God Himself who designed every aspect of the universe in perfect detail.

Now, regarding people seeing others in a superficial way, what else did you expect? We can only see what is on the outside, and that too not very well. Plus many practice deception to hide their true natures. But there are certain indicators or "tells" which give away liars.

God and Jesus don't really need to "see" us because Christians have "mindmelded" with them and are already PART of them..:)

It must be nice to come up with some new vocabulary. Make sure Merriam-Webster hears about it. And what about the rest of humanity?

If the rest of humanity haven't accepted Jesus by the time they die, they'll be in a world o' hurt..:)-

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Prov 31:30 (KJV)

Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. 26 For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. Prov 6:25-26 (KJV)

As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion. Prov 11:22 (KJV)

But in all Israel there was none to be so much praised as Absalom for his beauty: from the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him. 2 Sam 14:25 (KJV) ... For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom. 2 Sam 17:14 (KJV)

But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was. Ezek 16:15 (KJV)

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 1 Peter 3:3-5 (KJV)

For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. Romans 2:28-29 (KJV)

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 1 Cor 1:27-29 (KJV)

Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: 17 Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts. 18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon, 19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers, 20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, 21 The rings, and nose jewels, 22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins, 23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails. 24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty. Isaiah 3:16-24 (KJV)
