The Longsuffering of Our Lord

"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation"

I was writing this as an addendum to a current thread. I thought it better to break it out into a thread of its own. This deals specifically with how we ought to conduct ourselves in these days that are dark, when even the reason and logic of the world is failing, always to the benefit of the deranged and godless.

I will keep this short.

The verse above, from 2 Peter, speaks of a salvation that is not about going to heaven when we die.

"..consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation."

This is not about being saved to go to heaven (in fact, very few instances of "salvation" have to do with going to heaven... but that's another thread.)

Here, this is about being saved from the times we are in.

We are assured, against the threat that the evil in the world will build ad infinitum, that "..the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up... dissolved".

So, as men debate whether or not perverted men in women's clothing and makeup should read books to children, as they celebrate the killing of the unborn, and while they make laws in preference to the doctrines of demonic gods and their followers, we must ask ourselves: what is the Son of God doing?

Longsuffering

And, as a reflection of Him (because we are not our own to command) what is our assurance in Christ?

"..the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation."

This is a 1 to 1 correlation between the the sons of God and God Himself. This is consistent with being representatives of God in the earth.

Paul wrote:

"Love suffers long and is kind..."

The wisdom of longsuffering is obvious: the sons are to be like their Father.

Now, what God is NOT doing is, He is not using the wisdom of the world to correct any of the perversions that are rampant today. Worldly wisdom, itself, is compromised. It is compromised by the lawlessness that was foretold. When we are in a time of lawlessness then everyone's conscience is a law unto themselves. There is no way to govern this!

The trap of lawlessness, to the believer, is this: the belief that we must do something to head off the corruption!

When we take up the means of the world (like politics) and its wisdom (like observable science) to combat the corruption that is apparent, we actually become that which is foretold in scripture: the Harlot. The filthy woman who promises results but delivers infidelity: a solution not keeping with the purity of Christ. The end result being: "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold." If you terry in her ways, you will eventually begin to persecute the faithful in Christ.

"..the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service."

My friends, the world is lost. Your favorite state is lost, your favorite country. God has not changed the position of the world since its corruption in days of old. Nor has He changed her fate: "..the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up... dissolved"

So do not fall for the trap. Instead, longsuffer.

"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Love suffers long.

I posted this before 9:30am EST. It’s now 6:30pm. There must be a better way.

I believe you touched on the problem when speaking of lawlessness. I live in America and was born in 1959. The times of reading the Bible in school, saying prayer in school, taking out the allegiance to the flag of our country, so in other words raising up a generation that has taken God and His laws out of the public life. Home entertainment, whether it be sports, video games or music has interrupted the home unity and every one is an island to themselves.

What the world needs now is not love sweet love. No! What the world needs now for every individual to repent of lawlessness and turn back to honor and respecting the Creator who is now in a mode of major wrath. It's not global warming, its GLOBAL WARNING!!

Isaiah 13:9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

Note: There is more than 20 more verses just like this one.

Our only hope is to return to the LORD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and to take hold of Yeshua's tzit tzits for our spiritual healing.

The world is lost. Haven't you heard? Lawlessness defines the times.

There is actually a standard of love: love one another as I (Jesus) have loved you. Jesus said this before His crucifixion so this was not about physically dying for others necessarily. It was about this:

Jesus is speaking: “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. For the Father loves the Son..."

This is how we are to love: by being led of the Spirit to do the Father's will. That is the standard.

I find it interesting that there are doctrines that say "A Christian can no longer hear directly from God. They have the Bible. So there is no more divine revelation." That's garbage. If there is no more divine revealtion... if we cannot see what the Father is doing in the moment, then we cannot love. We would rush by Zacchaeus and the woman at the well to get to our appointment.

With Hope and Gratitude. For me, at least, this is the only way to deal with the condition we find ourselves in.

I believe there have been 32 advanced societies that have collapsed before this time of present turmoil.

Those who are left will carry on and rebuild, that has been the cycle for thousands of years.

This is a particular tragedy because Christians, who are in possession of truth must therefore bear their share of responsibility because of their hyper focus on the rapture/tribulation/ Anti-Christ and the sense of futility that narrative has manufactured.

The "church" and the "churches" have abdicated their purpose, the role of being salt and light, the great commission to make disciples of all nations along with maintaining a voice at the table of human affairs as we did in the turn of the 19th century.

Instead we watch feel good trash like the Chosen, cheer on faux Conservative movements and think we are doing our part by sending our financial support.

Christians helped build civilizations based on Christian principles, Christians were a force for good, now we sit on the sidelines while non-Christians are actually fighting against lawlessness.

I believe we are at the times of the feet of clay and iron, as foretold in the Book of Daniel.

It does tell us of mighty empires dwindling to weak and strong empires mixed.. I believe the Book.

Most people miss that John was seeing things "in the Spirit". The Harlot he saw was not a certain event in time but the fullness of a spiritual reality manifested. Certainly, that spirit has had many appearances in the earth, including the current church that curries favor with politicians and world leaders. Except this time, or of course, her influence is global... as was seen by John.

You will not find this with Jesus, nor with the disciples who followed. This idea, that we are "a voice at the table", arose out of Rome: the amalgamation of church and state.... that now rapes children along with other churches like her.

The world is a narcissistic shell and that will manifest itself in either the grandiosity of greatness (i.e., nobody's better) or victimhood (i.e., everyone is yet to do anything more in trying but with no results). However, it will actually be the meek and humble that will inherit the earth.

So in your view do you believe no Christian should be involved in any societal decision making bodies from school boards to local government to the presidency.

The real question is: if the world could be saved through the political process then why didn’t Christ come in the manner of a politician? I recall that a certain person, named Satan, offered Jesus just such an exchange: “I’ll give you all the kingdoms”.

which city on earth is the only chosen city of god on record ? Who he made beautiful and powerful the crown city on earth

Yet this city continually worshipped other gods though God had chosen the city the people as his bride? Which city is responsible according to scripture for the blood of all the martyrs ?

which city and people had the opportunity to commit spiritual adultery against a sacred covenant with God and be called a whore by Gods word ?

which city on earth did god say took lovers all around her and he would give this whorish women to thoae lovers she chose and they would destroy her with fire and leave her destitute and desolate because she continually whored herself out to thier gods ?

We’ve been down this road before. Jerusalem was once a manifestation of this spirit but she is not currently destitute and desolate nor destroyed, by her own judgement. It has now moved to the church. She is the harlot who curries favor with kings. This has been true ever since Rome made Christianity the state religion.

theres no temple on the Temple Mount this means they can’t worship God by thier covenant this left them desolate it’s fulfillment of prophecy

Now consider what was said when the messiah came about thirty years before Jerusalem was destroyed

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations the Jews were sent out from Jerusalem by rome after it was destroyed into all nations ) and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.”

brother look at Jerusalem now there is a Muslim mosque on the temple mound dedicated to a false god declaring “ God absolutely he no son “ this is the sanctuary now in Jerusalem a Muslim mosque declaring Christ is a lie , and your saying they aren’t desolate now ?

since 70 ad it’s been desolate did you see how Jesus said this is when all that’s written is going to be fulfilled ? That’s what John is talking about also the fulfillment of what God already has said regarding the whore

this what the prophet said in the ot of Jerusalem just one example of several of anyone is actually willing to read them

John then a few years before jerusalems destruction again is about his prior words being fulfilled

And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: ( Jerusalem changed her garments see Ezekiel above )and upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. ( this is what Jeremiah said of Jerusalem )

And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus this is what Jesus said of Jerusalem I’ll quote it below )

The only capitol city God ever named on earth is Jerusalem because that’s where his temple was designed to be on earth before they defiles it all God has a surreal with israel and specifically Jerusalem

Johns revelation was much about the immediate future also remember I think your looking too far ahead and I don’t know why we try to figure out what it means when it’s repeatedly said in the ot “thisnis going to happen to Jerusalem after the messiah is rejected “

brother we have to look at scriptire to see what’s coming because it’s always about all God said being fulfilled as he said it with e conditions he placed upon it without us altering or changing anything or even needing to connect dots it does it for us as we take in more scripture it comes together on its own Israel’s curse spread to everyone the church isn’t the whore the church are the children the woman is who gave birth to the messiah ( israel and her covenant promise made to Abraham ) the children are the church those in tbe image of the son of man who was taken to heaven to the throne


Because of the old covenant we have a new covenant now but the judgements of the old being broken will go on to the end and serve as an example that having a covenant with God comes with a responsibility to uphold your end wi to all your heart because breaking it so brings a terrifying result

Thank God that when He confirmed His covenant with Abraham, He alone walked between the parts, while Abram slept as tho dead!

I’m not sure what you’re saying brother did Abraham just lay there as dead after God told him what to do ? Or did he obey the lord because he believes what he told him ?

Are you saying God is the smoking furnace and burning lamp? But also did Abraham do his part when God told him where to go and what to do ?
