To me it is far easier to study when doing so in a effort to come to an understanding to a certain individual emphasis, not only do you learn, but you are forced to "TIE THE SCRIPTURES TOGETHER" which was the holy spirits intention.
For instance, there are "threads in the bible" you might never see unless you study this way. I started studying Daniel 11 & 12 doing an exegesis, and in order to get to the bottom of the reason why God gave us the full Greek list of kings, it opened up doors I could not of have anticipated, I understood that Jason (real name Yeshua) was an archetype False Prophet under Antiochus and BOOM, of course I thought to myself, if God gave us the archetype Anti-Christ he would have to have an archetype False Prophet along side him. So, now I do not have to guess, I know the ed time F.P. will be a Jewish High Priest like unto Jason.
Just reading straight through is worthy, but pin pointing subjects and gathering info from all over the bible and those subjects gives us the HYPER-DRIVE AFFECT.
