I'm searching for a new Bible.

KJV, NKJV, NIV, NLT, GW etc. etc. so many versions to choose from.
I'm a simple human being and want a Bible that is easy to read and is also faithful to old ways but still modern.
Am I asking too much? I'm reading about parallel Bibles right now and I think they're a great idea.
A Bible that is not HUGE and heavy but is easily carried daily is another important factor.

I think parallel Bibles are great. The ones I've seen tend to be a bit large and expensive so I haven't purchased one for those reasons. Maybe if you could find a parallel New Testament.

I use mainly three different Bibles right now: NKJV, NLT, ESV. If I could only pick one though it would be the NKJV. You might also look around for an English translation based on the Majority Text, but I don't know if there are any in hard copy. The NKJV does incorporate MT readings in its footnotes though.

I don't know if you're aware of https://biblehub.com/. It has a good parallel section that would enable you to compare many different readings to help you get an idea of how they read.

NKJV is my favorite go to bible for sure. I visit biblehub.com frequently for the reason that you have stated.

The King James 2000 Bible will meet these criteria.

You really cant go wrong with the NKJv. If english is your primary language.

Most bibles disagree with the KJV from the very first sentence, so either the KJV is right, and the rest are wrong; or, vice versa. Either way, they cannot both be right; therfore, how can you trust anything further in the one that is wrong. The KJV is over 400yrs old, and evangelized most of the world; therefore, I suggest it is the only BIBLE. Different translations are like multiple languages, which is confusion. Magenta, sent me a video, in open chat, for everyone to see, called Gospel of John. one of the best scripts ever. it comes from the Good News Bible. never heard of it, but as far as Gospel of John is concerned, the Good News Bible has the Best Version. if the OTHER Books are just as good, that will be a really good Bible to have.

i've even used that Version on these Forums and it matches really good and is truly legit.

Nothing wrong with any of these. We can find someone that disagrees with doesn't like 1 or more of the 450 different translations out there. Some tend to think since our language changes .. well duh the bible then should. Take the word GAY which was "The term originally meant 'carefree', 'cheerful', or 'bright and showy'." Today means something else so some would change the original meaning to fit todays meaning. Which I do not agree with. So there is no "most" bible disagree with. You just take what ever your reading and see how it was originally written. Even then just the original Greek don't agree. Just remember its HIS word so He will tell you no matter what version you read what He that is in you really said. Faith

I read NKJV, but I study from KJV, Because all my Reference Books are Expository of the Original Language and refers to KJV .

Sometimes I use NKJV, but mainly KJV (just because I grew up reading it). I've never heard of a parallel bible before this thread, but after a brief search I think they're a great idea too! Might just buy me one lol. I usually use Blue Letter Bible to compare wordings and look up lexicons, so having that would help. Now I see why my dad had so many versions 😅

KJV is a bit burdensome, and many of the other versions I find to be
somewhat weak in a way, especially when compared to the KJV.

Believe it or not, pawn shops often have bibles. A church I attended got a good deal on almost new bibles from a local pawn shop and made them available to congregants.

Jesus led me to purchase the NASB. It is telling that the NASB is the least used Bible in the churches, even though all of the seminary students I came into contact with told me they used the NASB to check their translations in their Greek and Hebrew language calles.

As I posted Jesus led me to purchase the NASB and since then I have noticed that the Bibles you listed have taken to the liberty to inject the names of places in prophecy that they think are the places the original text is referring to. The NKJV could not be translated word for word because that would have caused the translators to violate the NASB copyright. Consequently, anyone that wants to study the Bible should not use the Bibles you listed.
