I think the Dome of the Rock isn't on the Temple Mount, but that's just my view point. I believe the Dome of the Rock is on an old Roman Fort. Could be wrong, could be right. This isn't my expertise.
I'm not going to dig up the source(s), but there is one that claims the dome of the rock is built where the holy of holies had been, and if it has, that's highly significant. Tho, either the same source or another (I can't very vividly recall), claims it was built within the outer court, and that would have another sort of significance also, if so. But generally, isn't it commonly understood that it is purported to be built on the rock that Abraham utilized for the altar by which he purposed to offer his son Isaac upon?

I haven't really looked at this topic for awhile, but from my understanding the Romans destroyed the Jewish Temple in 70 A.D.. So, where did all these Roman soldiers stay? At a Roman Fort right?

If the Romans destroyed the Temple, why is the Temple Mount still intact?!?! Que Jeopardy music....

I'm just spouting stuff off from memory, so make corrections where applicable. The Temple Mount is at the City of David. I believe this is the video that explains everything, if not watch some more.


From memory, I believe it was said, that the the rock inside the dome (previously a church) was where Jesus was sentenced to death. Please correct me If I'm wrong again. What else? umm I don't know.

2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Thank you. I've heard chatter circulating about the temple mount. But, I've also heard chatter from "experts" about aliens so, you know, it's all just chatter until bigfoot actually shows up at my door and introduces it to me. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing to the possibility since I can't know for certain considering my limited knowledge and therefore vulnerable dependence on the integrity of others' findings. I'm just leaning more towards one theory than the other. Here is a link one source claim of the dome of the rock albeit you may have to follow a trail to find the original source since I start with a wiki overview and scan through that material and rarely do follow through to the sources provided. I mean, I did that for four years having to write paper after paper after paper and now have only a gigantic lifetime schedule of repayment plan to show for it.

I can see why you might have adopted your view, tho, according to Jesus' statement in Matt 24:2. It's just that I'm not sure that v.1's mention of His leaving the temple may not be of some helpful significance. And the Greek specifies his disciples were pointing out holy buildings (although that is not to say the temple wall was considered merely common), and there doesn't seem to be any trace left of the holy of holies considering Jews traditionally will not set foot on the mount because of the uncertainty of where the exact location of it might've been and so restrict their visit to the western wall. Besides the Muslim restrictions set over them, of course.

Just saying, if God cast them off in order to reach out to heathen nations, it wouldn't seem far fetched to me that He might pick them back up once the heathens begin turning back to their old ways...
