I’m hoping that some of you folks can help me to believe in God again. I truly want to. I’m just struggling with it and I can’t lie to myself and tell myself I do without a doubt, but I really don’t feel it deeply and I can’t rely on it to guide me.
Can anyone share anything with me to help me to believe? To help me feel God’s presence? Thank you

I can't say anything that will help you. I will pray for you, however, that the Lord will increase your faith. Also, keep praying for help yourself; He's the only One who can help really.

You might be relying on your feelings to be able to say you have faith. You said, “To believe in God again,” God said, “Return unto me, backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings.” So all you have to do is to turn to the source of our faith.

Return to him with nothing to offer but yourself, just as you are, cast yourself to him to cover your nakedness with his clothing of righteousness.

Hosea 14:1-4 KJV
O Israel, return unto the Lord thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.

[2] Take with you words, and turn to the Lord : say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.

(Do not put your trust to anyone or anything else but God alone. Come to him as helpless and hopeless as you are)

[3] Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.

(And God will heal you)

[4] I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.

You don't need to feel first or do anything else to recommend you to his mercy and to deserve his forgiveness. You only need to turn.

Spend time with God alone by reading his word. Faith comes from hearing the word of God. ❤️

Hello @Zachary24, you asked for help in believing in God .. "again". If you don't mind me asking, what caused you to walk away and stop believing in Him in the first place, and what kind of doubts are you having  (knowing the reasons and your doubts about God could be helpful). Of course, if you 'do' mind the question (for whatever reason) and you'd prefer no to answer it, no worries :)).

Praying for you!

God bless you as you seek to find Him, know Him, and reestablish a growing relationship with Him!!

Nobody can do this.

This is between you and God alone, just believe in Him, believe His word, it's just that simple.

You say you want friendship with God and yet you look to man, God is there with you worship Him, praise Him, clap your hands, rejoice.

... you don't feel, fiddlemesticks ... go ahead and do it anyway.

I have found when I have reached very low points that I can say to myself, to God "well at least other people are rejoicing, at least other people enjoying great favour, at least I can rejoice for that."

There's one thing sure if YOU don't love Him, if YOU don't praise Him others will.

I forgot where it is written, " come let us reason together" but its there. Basically God knows we have times of doubt. Even John the Baptist when in prison had doubt. He sent one of his followers for confirmation from Jesus. And Yet Jesus called him the greatest prophet.
There is a story where a man came to Jesus and wanted his son healed. (I think it was his son). I said something to the effect of if you can, to which Jesus said if you believe, and the man responded, "help my unbelief", Jesus did the miraclulous healing requested.
Sometimes it is just having enough faith to say, "help my unbelief".
It is also written that God wil not exstinguish a smoldering wick.

The most important part is not really what we tell you, it's the fact you're seeking. Why do you feel it's lying to yourself to believe in God? While I understand where you're coming from and what you mean, the Truth of the matter is the situation is about as opposite as possible, as far as finding purpose, love, meaning, and direction in a blind and pity less, accidental, and completely random universe where we are just highly evolved bacteria. Without a God nothing makes sense about how we live.

These things said God is not something we can "convince" each other of, or "do" something that removes all doubt like you're looking for. That doubt is removed by Him when we are born again, when our dead spirits are resurrected and reconciled to His, and this is when we hit our knees and totally submit to Him. This is a very personal event and happens to us custom. I know people that after 40 years of drug addiction were reborn on a jail cell floor in 100% withdraw, and those that were truly born again at an alter call after hearing the gospel in church, some that set out to debunk Christianity, and others drawn to Him in dreams. Jesus tells us that if we knock the door will be open, seek and we will find, I was in a motorcycle wreak and after losing all function in my right arm, then 2 solid years of wanting to die, I hit my knees in total defeat, I thought I was already a Christian and that didn't help a bit, Doctors couldn't fix it, science couldn't fix it, and at this point if I had ever believed in God I didn't now, I hit my knees in total defeat knowing "I can't do it anymore", I went to sleep a broken old man and woke up a new creation.

I just wanted to make the point that God draws us in personally in a personal way, just keep seeking Him, read His word, pray to Him and ask Him, He will draw you in and open your eyes to remove the doubt.

2 Chronicles 32:31...God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart...

Sometimes God allows it to seem as though we are all alone. It's unsettling, and it's meant to be so. There are various reasons why but all culminate in the fact that there is something about us that God understands that He wants us to know as well. The end of such a time is our good. We will have something purged from our lives that is either sinful or hindering our walk and affection for God. We will have a greater understanding and intimacy with God. And we will walk closer and more in dependence upon God than ever before.
As difficult as it is to go through, it is very necessary and something we will never bring ourselves to do, or maybe cannot do for ourselves.
Ask yourself this as an encouragement: have I ever desired God's nearness so fully before? Have I ever valued God so highly as I do now?

I know it's tough, but hang in there. Your patience in the Lord will be richly rewarded. Will be praying for you.

You might read the book of Habakkuk. He had a very similar experience.

That’s nonsense. We’re our brother’s keeper and called to share our testimonies and keep lifted in prayer those who are weak in faith.

Zachary, read the gospels and remember Jesus’ words where He told people who doubted His divinity to ponder the fact that He performed miracles that were witnessed by the multitudes. I’m praying for you brother as are many CC members.

It is indeed our duty to bear eachothers burdens and to encourage eachother in the faith. We the bretheren are as integral to the christian life as the word and the sacraments. Your statement to a brother in need here is uncalled for and callous. You should repent.

I think ultimately it’s about you asking yourself what you believe. When you think about where everything came from what ideology do you accept ?

what I mean is do you think evolution is responsible ? Just a consideration ancient accidental explosion from nothing then billions of years of random mutations an empty universe random without life mutates into what we are and see now ?

Or is there an intelligent living creator before all things that created them ?

ultimately man needs to reconcile those type of questions to discover what it is they really do believe

what I mean to say is ask yourself the tough questions about where life came from ? If you come to a conclusion that God created it all then you believe in God , if you conclude there is now creator it’s just a random cosmic accident that os responsible for everything that exists even the emotional connections man has with one another all is meaningless and without unltimate purpose

it’s within you to search and find where you stand on this matter

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

realizing the Bible is about mostly what is going to happen to a persons living soul after thier body dies so one needs to decide if they believe in those things after and before and Nono one can do this for us , when someone does believe in God the one in the Bible then they can be persuaded to repent and be saved but if one doesn’t believe in God they could never accept his son

Its a common trap to seek feelings and to search feeling for confirmation, its just not the case. Feelings are deceptive, in fact it is written that the heart is deceitful. Trust God not yourself. I know that seems like an impossjble thing but its not. Jesus, died for your sins and justified you before God trust that.

I was thinking along the same lines .:). Our faith needs to be authentically based upon the
Person and work of Jesus Christ, believed in our hearts and confessed with our mouth.

God is spirit, and we are flesh in a material world. We have to understand the spiritual behind the flesh we see. I find the study of the OT so helpful--the rituals it tells of are ways the flesh explain the spiritual if we look for them.

God had man put the blood of the lamb on the doorpost so the angel of death knew to save their first born. That is in the fleshly world, it is symbolic of the blood of Jesus saving us.

They washed their flesh to be cleansed in the fleshly world, it is symbolic of cleaning ourself of sin.

I think the entire history of the Jewish race proves God. They (and the gypsy) are the only races that did not assimilate when they moved to other countries. If you google the percentage of Jews compare to other races that achieve-----they make more money, are smarter, have more education, earn more Pulitzer prizes than any other race, even though they deny Christ and cannot have salvation. Yet God said he blesses them because of the special task He gave them.

Living with faith, with the Holy Spirit within, makes everything feel just right, makes for contentment and joy. I will pray for you.

ayes and in the very first place we need to believe God exists to ever believe he sent Jesus to save us through dying for our sins and being raised up Tom life for our justification

It’s like each belief leads to the next we have to believe in God existing before anything , then we could believe God sent his only begotten …..

believing truly in the living Jesus is where salvstion is , I understand what Jesus did for us as the sacrifice is important and essential but salvation is here I believe in knowing the living person of Jesus Christ our lord and his amazing nature full of grace and truth

“Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?

And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭7:47-50‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In my belief it’s who jesus is that’s where we have to be rooted solely and then we understand what he did to save us , but it’s the living Christ Jesus that saves not what he did who he is is my own personal way of lookin at it

he loves us and laid down his life to save ours true and without it we could not live

But to me this is a testimony of who my Lord is , my father who Loves me and is on my side advocating for me even when I mess up he’s still in on my side so much that he would die to save me from my own wrongdoing in the past

Its the one who did the “ works of the cross “ in my belief and what he did Carrie’s a message and shows me something of him and I

“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

which I believe is what compels us to walk in love , this love of Christ displayed upon the cross at Calvary and even in the empty tomb at gethsemene I love the display of affection between Jesus and Mary the love just never stops flowing from the Rosen lord

Hello @Zachary24

You are sooooo loooooved! God is aware of your struggle and wants you to know He sees you, He hears you, and He loves you!

God is calling you into a deeper relationship with Him that’s why you’re questioning everything you believe…

Some believe because of signs, or it’s just how they were raised, or other fleshly intellectual reasons but, eventually we feel a need to believe because we KNOW HIM….personally…we encounter Him…like Paul did on the road to Damascus.

Lay everything down, give Him everything and seek Him with all your heart… don’t seek what He can give you, instead seek HIM only with all your heart and you will find Him…. He will not deny you nor disappoint you.

Enjoy! You’re about to encounter GOD!

Much love to you!
