“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭KJV‬‬

notice what she says and what Jesus says regarding his word

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.”
‭‭John‬ ‭4:24-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We worship God in the spirit of Christ and his gospel his doctrine

“For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:22, 24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

remember that the holy spirit annointed Christ to preach the word of life

We worship God as Christian’s as Christ taught us in his word of truth

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We worship God as his children through the son revealed in the gospel

“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.

He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:”
‭‭2 John‬ ‭1:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

awe worship God by what faith we learn in the gospel

Since worship is also to serve… I would say most all the listed benefits of speaking in tongues fall under that category.

1. To speak the wonderful works of God

Act 2:11
Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

2. To magnify God

Act 10:46
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.

3. To give thanks well

1Co 14:17
For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.

4. To bring a message from God {when interpreted}

1Co 14:5& 27
5) except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

27) If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let that one interpret.

5. Sign to the unbelievers
1Co 14:22, Mar 16:17

1Co 14
22) Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

Mar 16
17) And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

6. To edify you, build you up.
1Co 14:4, Jude 20

1Co 14:4
He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

Jde 20
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the holy spirit.

7. To speak to God mysteries {divine secrets}

1Co 14:2
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

8. Makes intercession for us
Rom 8:26&27, Eph 6:18

Rom
26: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Rom
27: And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God

Eph 6:18
18. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

9. Your proof in the senses world that you are born again.

1Co 12:3
Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the holy spirit.

10. To have the spirit bear witness with our spirit – Similar to #9

Rom 8:16
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

11. To know you are a joint-heir with Christ.

Rom 8:17
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

12. To strengthen you with might in the inner man

Eph 3:16
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his spirit in the inner man;

And too, when the gifts cease with the coming of Jesus, we'll have eternity to worship the Lord; not by faith, but rather, face to face and spirit to Spirit. We'll glory in the Lord's presence, in truth and in holiness, in joy unspeakable and full of glory, with lives devoid of sin. We will stand fast in the liberty wherewith Jesus has made us free no longer susceptible to any bondage because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord; who by the second greatest miracle in all eternity, will remember our sin no more.
Jn 17: 3 KJV "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent."
Jesus come quickly! Praise the Lord in the name of Jesus, both now and forevermore!

Please allow me to rephrase my question.

If you personally worship the Lord in spirit, how do you do so?

I heard a cute story about a naughty boy (call him Barry) whose mother
sat him in a corner for being bad. When his mom noticed he was too quiet
she called out: Barry; are you sitting in the corner like I said? He replied:
Yes mom, I'm sitting on the outside; but standing up on the inside.

Barry was obeying his mom alright, but doing so grudgingly.

If your question is in relation to John 4:23-24, worshipping in spirit is to worship from the depth of one's being...with all that is within me...bless the Lord, O my soul.

I pray, worship, and praise the Lord in tongues and with my under understanding. I sing in tongues and with my understanding.
I have every intention of worshiping the Lord in Spirit and in truth throughout eternity, when there are no longer any gifts of the Spirit.
In fact, if worshiping the Lord in Spirit and in truth were meant to be done using the gifts of the Spirit: then the gifts of the Spirit, especially tongues would never cease.

God is not a man He is a spirit. If one truly wants to know about this then do what He said Luke 11:13 and then thank Him after you ask. I can open my mouth and sing praises to Him yet there are so many times I don't know what to say so I pray in the spirit sing in the spirit that is speaking in tongues. It is shocking how many disagree fight this will not simply believe.

A very few got it right. Simply quoting the word .. ok great but so what? How sweet is the name.. man I was not looking searching.. I asked about a week ago.. remind me about prayer according to your word. I can't tell you how many times I see this or that video about prayer.. not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.. by a faith preacher. Didn't seek search look ask the web yet oddly today I think 5 or 6 different videos on haha PRAYER! Then that name was talked about and again song after song THAT NAME.

I praise GOD they asked if I wanted the holy Spirit Luke 11:13. Just asked they read only what is written never added anything personal meaning what they personally believed just what the word said. Then prayed a super short prayer said that's it you got it. I got up since no one said a word I go to sit down and tongues came out. You ask if you looked back the day before how would you describe it? It was like night and day. Christ said you shall receive power.. man didn't say this Christ did. That is what happened. Are you asking are you believing or not

John 4:23-24 isn't about the Holy Spirit. Truth is referring to worship as God has prescribed and spirit is the individual's spirit and means from the depth of one's being.
This isn't the totality of worship but explains worship from the human perspective.

Please discuss what it means to worship" in spirit".
when a person becomes a born again Christian & gets baptized, the Holy Spirit of God moves into his life & lives with him forever. so during baptism, your spirit is "born again" which means you are going to want to think, speak & act like Jesus. you were convicted, converted & now TRANSFORMED to Jesus way of thinking, speaking & acting. so you now will worship in spirit, your spirit, transformed to the Spirit of God.

Please read Matthew 5-7 and Luke 3 and 6. This is how we truly worship God in spirit and in truth. He teaches us how to please him in these chapters, he teaches us how to deny ourselves and serve him the way he wants, not the way we think he wants. We think we worship him by going to church, singing songs, doing ministry, sharing the gospel, but really it's more than that.

Worshipping in spirit is exactly that worshipping him in your spirit. He loves when we sing praise to him but there is a state of worship that reaches a whole other level with him.

When your just being with him soaking in his presence synchonizing with his rythm honing in on his heart and you can feel his presence and you say are listening to worsjip music and you start singing along being filled with joy that makes you feel like achild your just worshipping and praising with all your heart and soul you can't give him enough honor and praise you even want to give more than your capable of giving you can do this for all eternity if you could and you lose control of your voices volume your just not there anymore your in a place with him where you just see him.

Worship and praise opens the flood gates.

Worship in Spirit means the same as worshipping in truth. It's the Holy Spirit that leads into the truth. John 4:24 actually says: " . . . those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

The context in which Jesus makes this statement is in a discussion with the Samaritan woman about where the right place is to worship God. Jesus basically tells her it doesn't matter where you are; geography is irrelevant. The flesh concerns itself with externals; the Spirit concerns itself with truth. By walking in the truth and obeying God we're worshipping in Spirit. It has nothing to do with "correct" praise and worship formulas.

In spirit

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In truth

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭

This is what it sounds like to worship in spirit and truth you hear what Jesus taught believers to believe and do like this type of thing is spiritual worship and true worship becaue your Heston to Gods spiritual words that offer salvation a spiritual thing also

“But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. ( that’s a spiritual principle )

And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. ( spiritual principle )

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. ( god is a spirit worship him in spirit )

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall be given into your bosom.

For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. ( spiritual principle )

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? ( the words I speak are spirit and life )

Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them,( worship in spirit and truth )

I will shew you to whom he is like: he is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:27-28, 30-31, 35-38, 46-49‬ ‭

the gospel is preached by the spirit of God the spirit of truth

“Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭3:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.

For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.

The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:31-36‬ ‭KJV

we have to hear Jesus words on the gospel to hear the spirit and truth of God
when we do if we don’t reject it this change begins to happen by faith hearing and believing the truth

if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; ( repent )

and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; ( believe the gospel )

and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:21-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

John 4:24 . . God is a Spirit

From what I gather, the little article "a" is editorial, viz: it doesn't have to be
there. Nor does "Spirit" necessarily have to be upper case; so that portion of
John 4:24 can be translated: God is spirit. (e.g. the NIV, the NAS, the ESV,
and the RSV)

The woman of Samaria was fixated on the proper location for worshipping
God, but Jesus corrected her thinking by pointing out that as spirit, God
cannot be containerized, i.e. when folks leave church, God doesn't bid them
farewell, close the door behind them, and wait for their return next Sunday.
He's out in the world, and there is nowhere they can go that He isn't there:
not at large, not at home, nor even in the grave.

The Greek word translated "worship" in Jesus' encounter with that woman is
related to a dog licking it's master's hand, i.e. a dog's total deference to its
master's superiority. That, I believe, is what God wants from everyone-- Jew
and Gentile --24/7/365. That seems to me too much to expect, but
according to Jesus; it's not impossible.

John 4:23 . . A time is coming, and has now come, when the true
worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of
worshipers the Father seeks.
