Bible critics a long time ago tried to counter the resurrection with some theories. These theories show the reality of the gospel accounts.
One was that Jesus only swooned on the cross.
They thought that the coolness of the tomb could revive Jesus.
But this theory bit the dust pretty hard..
1.. the nature of crucifixion, while not an exact science, is brutal and many died before they were put on the cross. The book of John records that Jesus was speared in the side, to make sure He was dead, after having been earlier beaten and bruised and hung up.
So the next thing is ... Let's just say He some how survived all that.. against what is probable...
The grave clothes He was put in would have suffocated any remaining life out of Him, finishing the deal.
So let's assume (now we are getting into Jesus being God any way to survive all this) that He survived the bed clothes .
Now.. He is in a bruised, bloodied, half dead, exhausted state..
How can He roll away the stone covering the tomb?
So let's assume (now it's just ridiculous) He did manage to roll away the stone. ..
He is in this ultra tired, bloodied and bruised state, with severe blood loss.. mostly dead ..
How do the disciples see someone like this and say they are risen from the dead?
Yeah.. so this theory bit the dust big time.
Any theories you know that tried and failed to disprove the resurrection?
