Businesses send junk mail. They pay the postage.
in NZ we dont allow spam or business to do that. If someone doesnt want junk mail they make a sign on their letterbox. NZ post does not deliver unaddressed mail.
It's not unaddressed. It's unsolicited. It's illegal to put unposted mail in a mailbox. The inside of the mailbox is federal domain.

People are mindful of not farting in public, but often they arent aware of all the other noises they make.

There are those that consider reading something the same as hearing it. I'd have to look it up to explain how they've come to that conclusion exactly, but it "sounded" like it made sense to me.

there is that but the term is 'visual pollution' I suppose. Theres also 'light pollution' meaning everything is so lit up and bright that you can no longer make out the stars at night.

I would consider noise pollution to be aural.

I think God likes harmony, there are some rules in the Bible in Leviticus about NOT wearing mixed up clothing! I always wondered, does God not like mixed fabrics or stripes with polkadots or clashing colours?

Do you like noise, or not
It seems nobody appreciates peace and quiet these days. :-(
Churches can be so noisy that I dont even want to go there anymore. They hurt my ears.

Is there anything we can do about it?
In the late 2000s, as a young boy, I went to a church that played loud rock music. Seems like some churches enjoy that type of stuff. Thankfully, I go to a church is quieter. Try finding a church that only uses piano and acoustic guitar. My church doesn't even have drums in it. Typically, Lutheran/Catholic churches don't play loud rock music. But hey, I am accepting of all denominations.

The second best option is to wear noise cancelling earbuds or some moldable plastic earplugs during loud portions of the service. If anyone asks you why, tell them that you are protecting your ears, so you can hear God's word clearly for many years to follow. :)

advertising..ads in general. Commericialism. Noise.
Ooh, one more thing to add. While adverts are generally unavoidable, I have a gratis ad blocker on my laptop computer and Firefox for my phone, such as u-Block. It blocks ads on YT, and on webpages.

One thing I don't like about some advertisements are radio adverts. They tend to be way louder compared to the music on the stations. Hopefully, someone invents a radio with AI that automatically turns the volume down during commercial breaks.

As a mom of a bunch of kids (trying to take over the world, dont'cha know) I'm used to the happy chaos of noise. However, I also appreciate the quiet when all the little minions are in bed.

Lanolin, you work at a school, right? Are you used to the noise of kids or....wait. You work in the library, right? So quiet kids?

children being quiet? Not something they naturally know how to be.

The older students do wear earbuds.

Ive considered putting more soft furnishings in the library and more thinngs like cushions and bean bags, and to lie and relax and read on but the principal seems not to like this and prefer his school to play war with each other. Like literally the houses are pitted against each other to make war, cos its 'exciting' and 'competitive spirit' and you supposed to be loud and yell at the top of your lungs.

Also there seems to be band practices upstairs in the music room which tends to be loud as you hear musicians play 'I believe in miracles' 'You sexy thing' on their trombones. I have no idea why they chose that song, Its awful!

lol

30 children all talking that the same time when you are trying to speak turns into a shouting match which is why teachers yell to be heard.

I dont really know if children know how to listen when everythings so noisy even in their homes prents think nothing of leaving the tv and radio on all the time and listen to that instead of talking to their own children and listening to them. ?!

I just learned not to say anything cos I wouldnt be heard anyway. Id write things down instead because half the time nobody ever heard what I had to say.

When one speaks of "churches" they are usually speaking of all manner of Christian type testimonies. One might well seek a 'Bible only' type Assembly and note Acts 20:27; 2 Tim. 2:15; etc. Scrambling Scripture can result in various ideas about the mind of our 'Creator God'. I find this well explained at the site: holdingforth1@hotmail.com, which speaks of the Church as "one body" worldwide of "one accord". We all need to see and appreciate "unity of the faith" for the universal Church, as our Bible teaches, I see. Christians will all be together in Heaven, and should be now in this world, I believe. That is orderly and Godly; and many do gather together on that ground. Keep looking up and seeking God's mind and order.

I know you like to find things to complain about, but this is low-hanging fruit. It's just too easy to complain about noise and ads.

Could you at least be creative?

About the noise in church: We're trying to have a worship service here. Some are loud, some are quiet, but (if the church is doing it with the right motive) it is all to God. Wear earplugs or something. You can cut them in half so they don't stick out your ears so much.

About advertising, that's how people let other people know there are things they need that they can buy. If you don't like advertising, go live on a farm with no internet connection. And please don't make too much noise in trying to find someone to buy your farm products.

One of my local churches used to always sell fireworks, or they let fireworks be sold on their church grounds...till someone pointed out it was a bit hypocritical to do that...(people get very silly over fireworks)

another church I know had a sign saying their building was funded by the local gambling outfit lol.

Many people dont want to live next door to a church especially on Sundays when its very noisy.

I think Im going a bit deaf as Im used to noise but I still jump when balloons pop or something explodes.

When you have 60 children all in one room its hard for them to stay quiet unless...they are sleeping. I dont think children snore as badly as adults do.

Imagine suffering autism in a school where theres so many voices, people, sights, sounds coming at you all at once.
Thats why its important for those on the spectrum to have order. They need that to navigate their way around a confusing world.

one technique to have children quiet down...yell 'waterfall' then everyone responds with 'shhhh'

Or maybe have an actual waterfall ?

i had this one 'snot nosed' kid

Truly I am always finding used tissues chucked in random places in the library...eww

who sits in the corner of the library, goes on one of the six computer watching yout tube or tik tok videos with the sound on then complains its too noisy in the library. Um hello kid.

I want to get rid of computers and devices in the library altogether but no its a device school and everyone thinks its ok to just watch tv in the library not thinking that maybe it makes NOISE. And not everyone wants to hear it? They can way watch tv elsewhere why do it in the library. aNd why would you watch tv and read a book at the same time, looks like you cant. I never saw anyone do it.

Teachers can be hypocritical too like I could just have a sign that says no noise whatsoever or SILENCE but no what teachers do is yell at everyone to be quiet. lol
