The Miscellaneous Forum is a good place to start such a thread. It doesn't need a whole forum to itself, IMHO.

Oh yeah....as well as leather crafts, precision machining, and clock and watch making. But I don't want the blacksmiths to be left out either....they make knives, hammers and all sorts of things. Then there's....

True Story: One Summer I was taking a walk. There was a teenager cuting down a large tree without first removing the branches, nor cutting it into sections. On my return pass their house to see what was going to happen, it fell on his dad's brand new Truck. I did give him advice the first time.
The next day Dad was cutting down another Tree, he did not listen to advice neither. This time the tree took out the Son's sport's car and his wife's motor home. The next day the wife while cooking outside managed to burn down their house. To my surprise the insurance company paid all claims. I asked what their insurance company was and changed to that company. Next month, they managed to drop a tree into the elecitical wires, on the neighbors attached garage and burned their home down. Neighbor's got together and paid them to move to a different neighborshood.

Good grief! I'd laugh, but that's tragic what happened to the neighbors home.
Good neighbors are hard to find.
At least you warned him. Communication is usually a good thing. That guy knew you were right, but his pride probably is what cost him.

I normally am a DIY kinda guy, but paid about a thousand to have an old weeping willow removed from over my home. The guy was insured and experienced.
