2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Genesis 2:16-17 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

In genesis we read this promise from God, yet as we read on we see adam and eve had and raised children, tilled the ground. Many argue that this is a spiritual death, a seperation of God and man because of sin.
Some explain it as GODs grace of forgiveness because of the skins that the Lord provided to cover their nakedness.
And then there are others that say the Lord just tried to scare them, because its obvious they didnt die that day.
So what happened? Was it spiritual? Did GOD lie? Was it grace. Was it just a scare tactic.

The answer is found here in peter. And to this event i believe he is speaking to.

2 Peter 3:8-9 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Adam lived 930 yrs 70 yrs less than what the Lords day is. The Lord has spoken it and it was so.

I hope this understanding helps you in the study of GODs word as to what this scripture reveals and its meaning.

But old Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord, and he landed high and dry. (y)
Genesis 6:8
“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”
Some explain it as GODs grace of forgiveness because of the skins
"Skins for sins"... That's a new angle. (It was the fact that the animal's lives were taken for their sins.) (This foreshadows Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.)
Hebrews 9:22
“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”
Was it just a scare tactic.
It was a love tactic. God must get us to understand the severity of sin before He can save us and take us to be with Him in Heaven someday.

Amen, brother! Good post. (y)

When i find myself in the company of new believers or those wanting to understand what GOD has to say i always go to genesis first.
Genesis being the creation in my opinion is the first thing that shows that GOD used a design and purpose for all that is in existence .
It also shows how far away we have strayed from the truth with lies of evolution and such.
Its amazing to see peoples reactions when told the truth of what they can see and makes it easier to talk about and discuss what they cant see....GOD.
The story of adam and eve and the fall of man is very important to understand but much is overlooked or just glanced at.
Adam never escaped what the Lord spoke....we should take heed to this but also rejoice in our Lord and savior Jesus
Christ who has redeemed and restored that which was lost.

Just so I understand...the death referred to in Genesis for sin is physical death in your opinion? And this you conclude because Adam died within 1,000 years of his sin?

“And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“and all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭5:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

adam died physically in the day he ate the fruit but it’s a day from Gods perspective

In the first thousand years he died but many say that because he didn’t die instantly when he ate the fruit that it’s a “ spiritual death “ but Adam did die as the lord said and it was physical like all men die it’s the reason we all physically die but after we die we’re judged by the spirit

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

think of the one appointment all man has it’s when our physical body dies adams death wasn’t spiritual I think is the point and it did occur in the day they ate the fruit

Ok. I just wanted to make sure I understood the argument he was making. I didn't want to comment before I understood his position.
