As far as lukewarm deeds are concerned: If I know what to do but I don't do it, I have to ask myself why.

Do I believe God is omniscient? If He said I should do something, do I believe He knows what He is talking about?

Do I believe God is omnipotent? Do I believe He is in charge and in control?

Do I believe God loves me? Do I believe the things I should do are beneficial? (Important side note: That is not at all the same as what makes me happy. Romans 8:28 has nothing to do with what I want, or even what is beneficial for me personally. God works all things for good, even if it involves me doing something for somebody else's good.)

If I believe God is good, God has all power and God knows everything, why do I not do what I know He wants me to do?

For me it is mostly indolence.

It's kind of like knowing I should exercise, but it's so much easier to convince myself to eat a bowl of ice cream. Even though I know good comes from doing what I should, I am inherently lazy.

NOT doing what I know I should not do, that's easy. Inertia works in my favor there. I'd have to actually put some effort into killing someone or lying or stealing or something. But sometimes I just can't be bothered to do what I know I should because I would rather be lazy than have what would result from doing what I should.

Off topic but: most thermoses and insulated tumblers use air or empty space as the insulating material to keep the drink from conforming to the outside temperature. The older ones had these vacuum (in the sense of space without anything even air in it) glass inserts with a usually silver colored backing like a mirror (that shattered into tiny pieces if you tried to be clever and put an ice cube in it to keep your drink cold), newer ones are just double or triple walled stainless steel. Foam insulation works about the same way, the foam is full of little tiny air pockets that heat has a hard time crossing.

Ok enough geeky stuff.
Tysm! I love geeky stuff and can never get enough!
Yes! that's what it's called, a tumbler. I looked on the bottom to see if there was any info and it just says, "patent pending." Definitely looks lined with stainless steel. The brand? I think, is Reduce. That's what it says on the side of it anyway with a dot or a trademark icon I can't tell without the right reading glasses. Anyhow, it keeps my drink at temp all day. I had two but lost the lid to one of them found that to be a bit distressing. The two share a lid now, until I might happen upon the lost one somewhere, hopefully.

The added information you offered provides me even more insight into how God's love works when we keep ourselves wrapped in it, insulating us from the harsh "outside temperature." The tumbler I have beside me is white, btw, like a white garment the Amen says, "I counsel you to buy from Me... white garments so that you may be clothed..."

Im sure you can now buy drink bottles and coffee mugs with scripture on them that says "I wish you were either hot or cold not lukewarm or I will spit you out of my mouth'

I've got a mug that just has THANKFUL stamped on it.

If i HAVE to do stuff for God's approval im lukewarm because i have somehow lost the understanding of what Christ has done, or im for some reason intermingling religious traditions or works and performances into the mix. Works and performances for Gods acceptance is a fools game because in it there is no ceiling and the floor is a bottomless hole.

I guess one of the ways i can tell if im messing up is if im feeling stressed out from trying too hard or feeling judged or even judging myself. As a rule i stay off of what everyone else is subscribed to as they drown in their own understanding or lack there of and i just do my own thing.

Two quick thoughts: coffee is really only good until it is just hotter than warm... then it's cold coffee.

And...

The Lord may speak to each of us at times regarding the state of our devotional lives, but He also knows our weaknesses and commitments. Let's not be beating ourselves up, but rather reject the condemnatory guilt and embrace the Lord in His mercy and goodness. Human guilt only produces human works, which profit us nothing. Godly sorrow produces repentance. They feel different.

For me its not really tea ....

Its either hot chocolate or ice chocolate. Lukewarm chocolate is the chocolate thats been sitting on the supermarket shelf or pantry until it expires. Possibly already melted a little and then gone hard again. I know you could still eat it but...its not as satisfying.
Hopefully, there are mini marshmallows in the hot chocolate.

I had the experience of dropping a thermos and yeah, the shattering into tiny pieces.

Chilly bin and or ice bucket if you want to keep things cold.
Hopefully, there are mini marshmallows in the hot chocolate.
ordered a hot chocolate but by the time it got to me it was lukewarm. :-(

We also got pita pits for athletics day. They were cold, like not even toasted like burritos are.

I am not really liking this 'fast food' culture at school when you only have 10-15 minutes to wolf down your lunch. One teacher said she never has lunch only brings a museli bar and yoghurt to school and snacks on that.

Other teachers say I should eat in the library even though I have a rule not to bring food and drink there. I am not eating in my tiny airless office where theres books etc.

I thought about complaining to the principal that staff actually need PROPER breaks and not to cram all this learning into the day, or we only have morning school and go home for lunch, then have afternoon school.

Some kids only ever have ONE meal a day and cant learn when they are hungry.

I find that to be very sad. :(
well money only goes so far for some on low income...mostly on rent. I thought meal time was the most important part of the day but here it just gets treated as like fueling up at the gas station.

Last sunday, after took mum to the (flea) market, we were going to have yum cha as my reward, but on the way to the restaurant, passed a church group giving out free food and hot lunch to anyone who passed by on the street...we had a huge feed, like a smorgasboard/buffet and they even had hot tea and coffee.

And for the extra free food was given a whole chicken, a bag each of potatoes, carrots and onions. Had to carry it all home in a box tray.

Was so blessed that day, even got free magazines for mum at the library. Praise the Lord.

I come from a culture where its important to eat well. lol. None of this I'll just eat a sandwich at my desk stuff.

I think for me, the times I know I’m lukewarm is when I am completely content, and that puts me in a position where I’m too comfortable and end up relying on thyself than on God. Which is dangerous.

The times I’m on fire for God is when I am out of my comfort zone but trusting in Him to guide and lead me. I can be in and out of the two but I know I can do better and be in the place where God wants me and that’s being on fire for Him.

Hope you been well Seoul 💛

What about being on ice for God or being chill?

I mean I can understand being on fire but isnt it better to have fire AND ice? Sometimes we need a cold snap.
