Romans 10:17
King James Version

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Is it possible to come to faith in Jesus without hearing someone talk about him? Like just with a Bible?

Yes, absolutely. Normally, we come to faith partly through hearing someone preach, but many people come to faith simply by reading, or even through simply testimony or even dreams.

Well; it wasn't till someone walked up and told me that I became aware God
was thinking of me when His son went to the cross. That was quite a
eureka moment because before then I was of the opinion that he died for
the sins of the world but for no one in particular. In point of fact, I had been
brought up to believe Christ was a victim of cruel circumstances beyond his
control.

I like tracts to accompany my gospel presentation. They are a good reference tool. I went through the motions of prayer when someone tried to lead me to Christ. He left me a tract and wrote additional references on it. He asked me to read it before going to bed. I got out my KJV Bible, put it on my bed as I knelt next to it to read all of the references in context. The Holy Spirit helped me to understand the Gospel.

I Don't think I would have gotten saved from the tract left at my door. I haven't found anyone yet who has seen fruit from door hangers. That is because faith in Christ is required to be saved. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. It is preached by man or woman, boy or girl, but must be proclaimed by believers who rightly explain it. The person who knocked on my door and cared enough to share the gospel clearly, explained it and had the Holy Spirit's help. I was reproved by Him as I read His Holy Word about Christ's death for our sins, burial and resurrection. My choice was faith, but all these came together and resulted in my salvation as a teenager.

That continues in others in some variation that contains God's Word, God's Holy Spirit, a saved person proclaiming the true gospel. These elements should be present.

To the title, "Faith comes from hearing the Word."

I've always thought the message of the cross isn't intuitive. This isn't something someone is just going stumble upon while brainstorming how to get eternal life. So, someone, whether that's God, an angel, or a human needs to inform others about it.

God has given man the ministry of reconciliation.

God can make Himself known in specific ways that each person is able to recognize and understand.

A person could look at how majestic a mountain view is or the setting sun and think did a God create this? And then become drawn to read the Bible and discover God that way.

Maybe a near death experience that reveals no one should have lived and that creates the wonder of was there a God who saved me from that? And that leads to read the Bible or go to Church or ask someone who claims to believe in God.

There's so many ways God can use outside of His Word to draw someone to His Word.

I'd have to believe that somebody could get saved without literally hearing someone talk about him.

Have any of you ever lead somebody to the Lord through written text?

A letter, an email, a text message, a private message, or a post on a forum?

I have, and nobody literally heard me then.

We're born again of the incorruptible seed of the word of God, which lives and abides forever (1 Peter 1:23).

Does the word of God necessarily have to come to us in audible form as opposed to written form?

Again, I'd have to say no.

There is a first step before you can get the Right Faith inbirthed in you by hearing the Word -------Jesus is the Word -----the Word is alive and active ----

God has to Draw you first by persuasion ----that is your Hearing and Heart needs to be changed from hardened to soft so the Faith Words penetrate and become inbirthed in you -------

Scripture says------ Without Faith you can't please God ------so Faith is the foundation for Salvation -----Grace comes through Faith -------

Grace makes Salvation available ----Faith receives it ---------

Great saying here -----
